Welcome to Librarium Online!
hey! so im a new ork player and i was wondering about meganobz. are they worth it? how do they typically die? also i was lookin at the ork codex and the 5th ed rulebook. i was confused, how many wounds do they have? the codex says 2 but the 5th ed rulebook says 3...
The main problem with MANz is that, unlike their less armoured brethern, they don't get the option of a pain boy nor cybork bodies. They're also slow and purposeful, which is a pain in the butt.
Regarding army specifics the CODEX > RULEBOOK

Problems with MANz are;
Slow and Purposeful.
I counter these with Mad Doc Grotsnik Which gives them Feel No Pain and a 5+ invulnerable, as well as the 'Fearless' special rule. I also place them in a battlewagon so that they can reach the enemy faster. I also include a Mega armoured warboss and they have performed very well in every game that I have used them.
Mega nobz are a great unit, but not always an easy one for beginners to use.
Overall, mega nobz are an incredibly cost effective unit, costing 10 points less than a normal nob with a powerklaw and 'eavy armor does (and the meganob has a 2+ save instead of 4+).
However, as others have mentioned, meganobz don't have access to painboyz, cybork bodies, waaaaugh banners, or bosspoles. However, they do have access to dedicated transports and combi-skorchas, just as regular nobz do. Also, if you attach a character with a bosspole, or Mad Dok Grotznik (for cybork bodies, feel no pain, and fearlessness), they get a lot more resilient, but they lose some cost effectiveness.
Anyway, I could go on for a while, but in short, meganobz work well in small, expendable groups, equipped with combi-skorchas. Small groups of regular nobz, in comparison, aren't really good for anything. With meganobz, the optimum size is 3-5 in a vehicle, whereas with nobz the optimum size is 7-8 in a vehicle, or on bikes.
If you're looking for cheap nobz, than meganobz work well, and with combi-skorchas they can be a big threat to anything your opponent throws at you. If you're looking for an all round 'super unit', then regular nobz or nob bikers are a better choice, if you're willing to spend the points.
