I've been considering starting a DE force. I was going to wait for the new codex, but it is now looking to be over a year away according to Brimstone at Warseer.
I can get DE warriors fairly cheaply on ebay. The raiders/ravagers are what burn up the cash, especially if you want to field 8-10 of them.
Obviously this is speculation, but do folks think the raider/ravager plastic models will stay the same or change when they finally do release the new DE stuff? Historically, GW doesn't usually change plastic boxsets, but I don't want to get stuck with a bunch of old raiders if some new awesome Jes Goodwin version is released in 12-18 months.
I hope they'll change, the moulds for the current ones are starting to go and the sprues are uneconomical with space and don't have any options on them. Not cool.

If you're feeling up to it; converting/adapting the current DE models will ultimately lead to your owning a DE army sooner.
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.
Voor alle nederlanders:
The Dutch Legion
I think they'll overhaul a few plastic kits and convert a lot to plastic, like Wyches. The Raider and Ravager models are solid, they still look really nice. I'd just buy the army if you can find good deals and are comfortable with how the Warriors look, a true DE player would have old school models anyways. ;]

DE warriors stay the same ? bwhahaha.
GW knows it won't make money unless they update the DE models and put alot of effort into them unlike the first ones that where rushed and wonder why they didn't make there money back.
Eradicating chav scum since 2005!
The picture in our latest rulebook suggests to me that Raiders (and probably Ravagers too) will see a redesign when the new codex comes out... whenever that happens to REALLY take place. TBH, I'm not even buying the "next year" rumors anymore. I've heard it already before.
Yeah, so go ahead and buy the DE now if you want to. Go hog wild.

Yes, the next year rumors seem to be getting further away with random talks of BA and the likes.
Anyway back to the topic, i just spent about £100 to finish off my DE army, i couldn't care less if they were updated i'd still use the stuff i have now, unless new units were bought in that were any good.
IMO you should just go for it and start your army because we won't be getting an update for a while, long enough to warrant starting the army now at least.
True that. True that. At any rate the economical idea would be to entice people to play this uber over shadowed and left behind 'cult' faction. They are an entire different army. Not some 'craftworld-space marine" run off so I have a queasy feeling that their might well be a bunch of shiny new models to be had. Especialy on the things that sell the dark eldar like the wyches and the lord, ravager ect...
Last I heard, the guy who is made the eldar harlequin models (which are awesome) is making/working-on the new Dark Eldar model range so they SHOULD be great.
My big hope with the new models is that they'll be less flimsy, especially raiders.
The harlequins are awesome models.. I bought some just to paint! Ah here's hoping that the DE are in a similar vein.
