I just purchased two battleforce boxes, a Big Mek with Kustom Force Field, and a box of lootas. I am planning on doing a fully mechanized list, eventually getting a filling out all 6 trooop choices with boys in trukks, supported by a couple of battlewagons.
I was wondering, how would you guys equip the Trukks? They will each be carrying 11 shootas boys and a Nob with a power klaw. Main tactic of charge forward, shooting along the way, and then leaping into hand to hand.
Also.. just a quick rules question. Can you move 18 inches ina fast Trukk and still have the occupants shoot their shootas?
Just a Ram, anything else is a waste of points, yes even Red Paint Job. Trukks have paper for armor, why upgrade them?
No they cannot fire if it goes 18".

When inside a transport, you can only shoot if the vehicle moved 6in or less, and you count as moving and firing (no effect on boyz). If the vehicle moved over 6in, then the boyz have to disembark in order to fire. If the vehicle moved 18in, then they can't disembark at all.
I agree with the Prince, the only necessary equipment to give a trukk is a ram. However, if you're only transporting regular boyz in the trukks, and no nob mobz, then I'd give at least one of trukk of boyz a stikkbomb chukka. Nothing's more painful then throwing your boyz at entrenched Orks/IG/Necrons and then realizing that all your boyz are attacking at initiative 1. 5 points isn't much to pay for peace of mind.
Also, don't forget to give the boyz in the trukks a bosspole. A re-roll on their leadership check effectively raises their leadership by 2, which is invaluable for sticking it out during close combats.
I go with just a ram, it's saved me many a time. I'd take red paint job but I play bad moons so i'm not sure if my oponent would let me use the rule. WYSIWYG and all that. If I have extra points i'll invest in a Stikkbomb Chukka and armour plates.
Add me! Let me know your forum name too! =)
The 'tribe' of your Ork army is just fluff, meaning that it has no impact on the rules. I use a Bad Moons tribe, but it doesn't restrict any of my options. If you like red paint, then use it.
Or your Bad Moons could believe that 'Yellow ones go fasta!'
Problem is if you get yellow paint job, stikkbomb chukka and armor plates your trukk will cost 20 points more. That may not seem much, but I'm sure you'll buy yourself more than one trukk and each one will come with 20 points of extras that are very likely to get blown up even to small arms.
Keep 'em cheap, boyz before toyz.
