Im still fairly new to playing 40k in the 5th ed, not playing since the 2nd ed before this, so im still rusty with rules. Ive played a few games now with my DE army I decided to collect, ive won 1, drawn 2, lost 1. Not too bad, could be better.
Anyway, ive found that my troops ( usually 40 warriors, "dark lance sniper squad" of 10, two squads of 15) Tend to fall apart a bit easily when holding objectives. The game I lost tonight was lost in the final turn when a carnifex's barbed strangler took out 8 of my 10 warriors holding the 1 objective still held by either side!
So, I have 20 wyches at my disposal. I currently in my normal kabal will field 2 HQ (archon and heamonculus) 3 troops (the 40 warriors as above) then a mixture of elites/heavy support (wych squad, grotesques, talos, ravager, etc) So the force organisation is intact.
The addition to lilith hespirax's rules has given me an idea.
Too squeeze more troops in, I have had the idea of taking the wyches from the normal kabal, and using them as a small allied force. 1 Wych Dracite, 2 squads of wyches (1 hw, 2 troops)
My question is. Is the seen as fair play, or is it even possible at all? Thanks in advance for the help!
Yes it's possible, but if you're just using it as a way to shoehorn in more troops then its kinda against the spirit of the rules. Not something I would recommend outside a casual setting where you've agreed with a friend beforehand that you can do this.

In a controversy the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves.
you don't need to ally, DE wych army or kabal are perfectly capable on their own.
DE are a very difficult army to play, you just may need a few pointers and a few more games to get to grips with them no?
i remember when i first played DE i lost a lot, they are the most difficult army to play in 40k but on the same note when played well they are quite devastating.
If you're always worried about crushing the ants beneath you...you won't be able to walk.
I use my wyches and wych lord as a ful wych cult in apoc, but in a normal battle this is a compeltely different matter.
Like it was said a Kabal or a cult is perfectly capable on their own, a small battle is just too small for complex structures. This is however very different if you decide to have a 4 way battle, how in most of those cases you usually have enough for apoc.
DE rules are just so old and you still have some old rules in our old codex which can't be applied to our current DE armies.
Like Wicky said this rule is outdated.
