I play Tyranids and my friend has recently started a Necron army. His warriors seem pretty much able to kill any of my guys and he says the Necron Destroyer Lord can roll three times a turn with resurrection orb, the WBB rule and a psycic ability(forget what is was). Is this possible and how can i take out the threat of the warriors. Would a carnifex with barbed stranglers be usefull against them.
Also if you have a ways to beat a Nightbringer then plz tell!
Thx (Just joined this site today)
I doubt barbed stranglers would help against them, since it allows them to make their two saves. Ive never actually faced a nightbringer, but if you focus on models with the Necron ability (warriors, immortals, wraiths I think) you can get them to phase out and never have to deal with the Ctan! Just swamp him with all your rippers and spinegaunts, hel waste the whole game killing them.

The Key to killing Necrons is CC, base your army on alot of CC units and you will tear them apart
Yeah CC is the answer. Swarm them with your gaunts and beat the hell out of them. If you don't get in cc, you're getting owned...
thx for the help
No prob man, Its just that Necrons arnt built for CC. I know because I play Black Templar and I masacure any Tau or necron army because I get in CC and rip them to sheads bro.
Also, he doesn't get 3 wbb rolls... a ressurection orb just lets him make 1 even if the necron was instantly killed or killed w/ powerweapons/rending claws/etc.
The greatest number of WBB rolls you can get is 2, 1 with or without a ressurection orb, and another if the unit gets teleported by a monolith.
A phylactery is the only other widget a necron lord can get that effects wounds - on his wbb roll, on a 5 it regenerates w/ 2 wounds, and on a 6 it comes back with all 3 wounds.
Have your buddy read his codex.

Wow thats not as good as he thought it was.
Get your TMC's(wing Tyrants work the best) to get into close combat with his warriors. If you do field genestealers, yet again, go againts warriors/immortals, if they manage to get into close combat(sigh). The reason a TMC works tremedusly(trying to use big words that I cant spell, this is what I get! ) is because they deny armor saves, and, wait for it...WWB rolls! You can think of it as killing Space Marines, only better. A Necron warrrior costs 3 more points than a Space Marine, so you are taking out more points from his army. Also, the Necron player does not have many AP2 weapons, yet his probably going to make you make a fair share of armor saves. Now dont try to make your Tyrant a hero by trying to kill his Necron lord. You will probably and mostly do it, but taking some wounds is not worth it. My sugestion is, either stall him with ripperswarms(if they cant get there...) or Hormagaunts. Whatever feels best for you. The key thing to win against Tyranids vs Necrons, are TMC's. Even a Red Terror would work quite well, and thats saying something!
TMC and other monsters such as genestealers and raveners ( with rending claws) all make a large bloody whole in his lines but you have to get them there, luckily for you necrons lack AP 2 weapons and most players don't even have them, just enter cc with your TMC and watch the necrons scream in terror
