Welcome to Librarium Online!
I bought a Genestealer from the inquastion line. My thoughts of using it as a brood lord. At a local terniment I was disqualified due to my space hulk genestealer and my Inquastion genestealer.
Now I was told that any non 40k offiacaly released figure. are non legal in tournament play. Am i being correct in my thoughts that either of these should be allowed or am i stuck with the ugly metal genestealer. Both figures sit on approprate base's. Now I did watch a blood angels player be allowed to field his terminators from space hulk (being the owners son ) When i mentioned it I was asked to leave the store. So before I go to any other tournies with this army I want to know what is a official ruling
THanks in advance
From what i could find the models must be
GW relased models, and i think LOTR arnt allowed, due to some lisencing or something.
Must be mounted on a correct sized based.
Must be wisiwig.
Must be the right size
As far as i know, if it folows all those then your fine. It seems like youve been nfairly treated.
Your friendly neighbourhood gargantuan creature
Seven words: the owner of that store hates you.
A model to be valid in a GW tournament have to be at least 50% of the model from GW catalogue the other 50% can be scratchbuilt or from other companies. If i were you i will find another store. Good luck.
BEST ARMY APPEARANCE AND OVERALL WINNER OF A LOCAL GW RTT (29-7-06) GODZILLA/CHOIR 2K ARMY LIST
I think that Inquisitor Genestealer should of been fine. It is rather large but looks more or less like a Broodlord. I think you are being treated unfairly. The Space hulk Genestealers are ok as long as you mount them on the standard bases, but that is mainly just to make them fit in. If the store owner's son is getting special treatment then I think you need to find a new store.
That makes me so mad when people get special treatment i am 100% with these guys it has 2 be 50% of the GW model. and plus it is a GW model just in a different game find a store with some real players not people like them
If there was ever a Fleet to be Afraid of...
Hive fleet Dread Walker is it...
Tried to find the 40K tournament rules from GW, no avail... Is it just me or is their current website just a slightly enhanced online store? =(
Anyway, at least some of the older rules for models in tourneys made mention of the 50% rule, and were not specific about 40K models, but GW models. For example, taking a Lizardman from WHFB and giving it appropriate 40K parts to make it WYSIWYG would be 100% legal as it would be a wholly GW model, just from different ranges. The issue was that people shouldn't be using for the most part non-GW models for their GW armies. As such, your ][ 'Stealer should've worked fine for a Broodlord (assuming WYSIWYG biomorphs and correct base) as it is a fully-GW model. Or does the store owner not know that Specialist Games is a division of GW? =D Then again, might be that GW has tightened the rules since I last checked, which is a couple of years...
The owner of the store does get to pick the rules of play to an extent. Of course, that point is clearly void because he showed preferential treatment to his son in an equatable situation and got fussy when called out. I'd echo the sentiment to find another venue for playing games if possible.
