Don't know if this is old news but the XV9 Hazard battlesuit is on the Forgeworld site with experimental rules. Link here>> Forge World NEW STUFF!
Finally! I've been putting off a Forge World order until they put it on the site.
The model looks great, although I'm not too sure about the feet, they don't look like they provide much contact area.
In terms of performance, they are almost immune to instant death, can put out 6 fairly accurate S5 shots a piece and can hit and run without the drones hindering them.
They may cost a lot but are actually cheaper than a similarly equipped XV8 (ignoring hardpoint and weapon limit restrictions).
I like them, but I'm wondering what to drop to fit them in my list.
I also think we can't make an entirely conclusive analysis about them until we see their other options as currently we have access to a lot of S5 AP5 firepower.
My guess, based on the fluff, will be access to fusion blaster and flamers (hopefully both twin-linked). I've also seen a rumour saying they will be getting a short ranged S6 AP1 small blast weapon.
It's slightly old news but still. Awesome models. Love the rules, tried them out and their epic. Not overly nasty just a lot of fun and imho usefull enough.
'Thou shalt not refer to the Adeptus Soritas as "Bolter Bitches" nor shalt thou go anywhere near our sisters during the time of the "Red Rage," lest thou wishes to be the first human to enter orbit without the aid of a shuttle.'
Yeah, my thoughts entirely, Riki. On the Forgeworld site it mentions that the official rules for the XV9 will be in the forthcoming Imperial Armour Apocalypse II book. Run this alongside the new points values for certain wargear items which appear in the experimental rules and it does seem a tad 'suspicious-looking' if you understand me.
As for the XV9: I phoned Forgeworld around the middle of October, asking when they were intending to bring the XV9 into production. The reply then was that they were unsure but hoped that it would be around mid-November. The reason for the hesitation was that they were uncertain whether to bring it out "as is", ie with the twin sets of BCs, or whether they would bring out different suits for different specific weapons load-outs, or whether they might just release optional weapons system packs.
Guess we got the answer.....?
If the official rules are to be included in an Imperial Armour Apoc book, I don't reckon it's going to see the light of day in the codex, but those point value differences are intriguing. Why the changes?
Hmmm........*searches out old IA3 FAQ*
