The the name say's it all, this guy at my GW outlet had a massive nid army.It was like this,He had the following
2 Hive tyrants with 2ST,wings,warp blast and all other upgrades.
But then he had 216 horms :o :o .Now that is a hell lot of troops . I think they where armed with sything talons, leaping,ADR WS and INT and implant attack. It was the biggest army i have seen in a long time.I feel sorry for the Space marine army he was battling. -_- -_- -_-
And thats way he called it hive fleet swamp.
And just how big a points battle were the playing? 216 horms tooled up like that, plus the two tyrants is well over 2500. The Space marines could similarily have a large amount of heavy weapons and blast weapons to deal with the swarm. A smaller board would limit the swarm's ability to maneuver as well.
It'd still be neat to see though .
"Can you put that in a memo and title it '***** I already know!'"
Church: "Ok, so we're agreed? You first!"
Sarge: "Get on with it, Griff."
Griff: "I'd just like everyone to know: that I suck."
Griff: "And that I'm a girl..."
Church: "What else?"
Griff: "And I like ribbons in my hair, and I want to kiss all the boys."
Sarge: "This has to be the best surrender of all time."
I'd think that most likely he would have some spinegaunts in there somewhere to get the points cost down.
My question is.....did he win?

Yes he did win.Because of the fact that he charged with all those gaunts into a squad of terminators and had about 300 attacks and smashed them all in one round of combat then he just moved on crushing everything.Plus the hive tyrant helped blow all the tanks. But just fact that he dident have enougth shots before the gaunts charged him.He only got the chance to 40 gaunts SHAME
I would find it hard to win with this army because there are only 2 models in the hive fleet that could kill tanks. This being said, it should be very easy for the space marines to win, all they have to do is kill the hive tyrant and the rest of the swarm will have to take morale tests, and the space marine tanks would be invincible. <_< Were those 300 attacks on the terminators all in one turn? I don't think you can fit 150 hormagaunts close enough to attack the terminators.
You call those cheap implants boobs?
They aren't boobs, they're lies!
how many force organization charts did he use? the max number of hormies you can have is 192 in one FOC... and with the tyrants that would be 2300 points right there

what about all the broods in the middle???? The hive tyrants synaspe range couldnt have cover all of them, even if there was 2!!!! i wouldn't want that kind of army. i would want some elites and fast attacks and heavies.
HT's and a couple of bags full of guants isn't fun.
I adopted a cute lil' death fetus
from Fetusmart! Hooray fetus! </a>
I have to agree; this fleet sounds a bit weak. Aside from the risk of relying on two models as his only heavy weapons, he loses a lot of ground by buying so many upgrades for his gaunts. With basic leaping and scything cheapogaunts being four points cheaper, he could play with ninety-six more for the same points. Not only would that give him ninety-six more wounds, but he would probably be able to inflict more wounds with 192 more attacks, too. He probably has three gaunts for every two marines, which is barely enough to swamp.
thank you and good night
The swarm looks certainly too mono for my tastes...
Not to mention that the ImpAtt on the Gaunts were largely wasted points... That's 432pts right there!
BTW, if it's on the charge, You only need to get 100 Hormies close enough to get 300 attacks dealt to the poor Terminators... But still quite a feat! If playing with the 4thEd rules, then I'd see it as possibly happening.
Head hurts... Tired. Somebody else can do the math on Gaunt base sizes and the size of the Termie squad, and see if even that's possible. I'll just go to sleep soon. Z_z
"The meat things seek to destroy ourselves. They hunt us as we hunt them but they are weak and uncertain. The inferior flesh will be entirely destroyed, all biomatter consumed. Ourselves will fight to the last, all weak flesh must be devoured."
my fleet is based on a balance of ranged and CC i use the tyrants VC for troops and elites and the such and WB for tanks so i can destroy rather then glance
And when he gets to heaven,
to Saint Peter he will tell.
"One more soldier reporting,sir
I've served my time in hell."
