I'm a new Dark Elder player, but i'm not a massive fan of the Archon/Archite/Dracon/Dracite Models, they are all small and puny and almost impossible to show any war gear on =p
So i was wondering what conversion have worked well?
I'd be looking at a Archon and a Dracite
Was thinking of using Dark Elf Hero Lokhir Fellheart as an archon, with a decent paint job i think he'd do quite well, few spikes here and there =p
A more complicated, mainly due to the metal models could be using the Death Jester model, but again thats difficult.
I was also thinking of trying to convert Harliquins for wyches, although i'm not sure i could get them to a standard to be acceptable in tourny play (how strict are they)?
Was thinking of trying to give them the ruined armor look, so use so cutters to dent the metal so i can put some blood/skin patches on and i'll have a backstory for them about how they were forced to fight in the Gladiotorial Arena's as the Laughing God doesn't give up the souls of the Harliquins so the Dark Elder weren't interested in them so threw them in with the Wyches.
As far as tournament legality, it depends on the tournament. Many will allow armies with significant conversions as long as it's approved before hand and it's not too confusing. In this case, I think most people can understand Harlie models using Wyche rules.
I found the same problems with the Dark Eldar when I did my army a few years ago. I generally used Eldar and Dark Elf models to start conversions. Striking Scorpions made very good Archons, nice heavy armour and size. Bits of Kroot plastics (the skin pouches and ribs) were excellent additions as well.
I got myself the Avatars of war Dark elf lord model :3

Rock is cheese, Paper is just fine
WWP and other Dark Eldar how to
I'd recommend this guy if you're looking for a punisher Archon, just cut down the underside of the gun and smooth it out with some green stuff.A more complicated, mainly due to the metal models could be using the Death Jester model, but again thats difficult.
Veni Vidi Variant

I don't really find the 2 only lords that bad, a good paintjob does make them somewhat acceptable, it's incredibly hard to find people that have a high painting lvl sadly...
I'm not really a fan of having the same models over and over again, so I painted those 2 lords and then converted my other lords from various models like: kruellagh, drahzar.
I don't have any pictures, those will be available on my blog later this year, probably next year lol.
Harlequins could look nice as long as you remove their shuriken pistol and don't paint them like harlequins...
My harliquins will be follow the same colour scheme as the rest of my army, which is black and dark angel green. I'm using a variety of reds, blue and silver for touching up weapons for finer details on the models.
This is my first army and first time painting models so i'm trying to keep it simple for now , they aren''t too bad if i say so myself =p they look good unless your really looking for errors.
Basically what i'm aiming for with the harliquins is this;
Harliquin painted as normally, then forced to fight in slave arena's untill they are so corrupt and are winning all the time that they've been accepted into the wych cult and allowed to fight....
Now imagine what they would look like after all of that, and that's what i'll be trying to paint =p.
I've been playing around with a Punisher equipped lord with tormentor helm and have been using one of the bodyguard incubi from the vect set as a lord with an incubi retinue. I think it looks absolutely awesome and allows for some really fun fluff
