when using jetpacks can you do the 6inch assault move and still assault as normal, providing the suits were on the table at the start of the game ie not deepstriking
Deltamarines (SM) W:10 D:1 L:3
Hunter Cadre Xeon'a (Tau) W:5 D:2 L:1
A Jetpack equipped model can move 6 inches in the movement phase and then move another 6 inches in the assault phase. In the assault phase you may choose whether you will charge or not.
If you do charge and move into base contact then they will move as regular infantry and be slowed by difficult terrain. If they move anywhere else and don't charge then they treat the movement like jump infantry and ignore difficult terrain during movement but must test for dangerous terrain if they begin/end their move in difficult terrain.
There are a couple of other points about jetpack-equipped units I would like some advice on:
1) Can they run in the shooting phase? I can't see anything in the rules that says they can't, but I may have overlooked it.
I'm also wondering if Broadsides/Sniper Drones can run if they don't fire - this could be a big boost to their mobility.
2) Can they walk in the move phase, thus making entering difficult terrain safe? I'm assuming that their move in the assault phase requires them to use their jetpack.
3) Do they fall back 3D6" like jump troops? I think that the rules imply that they do.
Jump infantry are not required to use to use their jump moves in the movement phase. They may make a normal infantry "walk" instead if they wish. Note that Tau jet pack units may make a 6" move in the assault phase only by use of their jet packs.Originally Posted by firedancerNo implication at all. Tau units equipped with jet packs are all classified as jump infantry, so they all have a 3d6" fall back.Originally Posted by firedancer
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.
