Welcome to Librarium Online!
i have recently bought a monolith and i have a assembled it (still yet to paint it) but i'm not sure how to use it. i have 40 necron warriors, 3 destroyers, 2 heavy destroyers, 10 scarabs, 1 necron lord, 6 flayed ones and the monolith. i would usally play a space marine player who has 1 normal dreadnought and an ironclad , 1 land raider, 2 or 3 units of space marines, heavy weapons team, 9 terminators, sternguard, assault squad, a chaplin and kantor.
I will accept any comments and i will try to reply as soon as possable.
Well... I'd recommend that you read 'The Arts of the Red Harvest: Monolith' for the basics and specific uses. Alzer's got an index somewhere in this part of the forum.
As for vs. space marines. I'd use it in the role of support. As necrons, they don't like be caught up in CC, particularly against assaulties and termies due to risk of being swept away or just dominated by power weapons. Have the monolith near the phalanx and portal them out should they get caught in CC. Better still, place the monolith in front of the phalanx to obscure enemy LOS until they get in range. Enemy units also have to move extra distance to get around the sheer bulk of the monolith too. The re-rolling through portalling can help immensely against marines as well. Oh, also make sure that the portal faces away from the marines, so the warriors don't get shot after they portalled.

Skaven still being assembled
Use it to hold your warriors in reserve, aslong as you have 1 unit in reserve you can't be phased out by turn 2-3.
A monolith when paired with a C'tan is a good combo, since most combat armies will ruin you in combat, when you have both your powerhouse units it become hard for the combat army to go past a monolith and c'tan to get to your warrior units.
