I am going to be purchasing a battlewagon very soon and I was wondering if i should keep with my original plan of loading it up with 10 MANs (I never realized how great of an acronym that is before), or if I might be better off with only 5 inside.
Either way, this battlewagon isn't going to field a KillKannon, and will probably either have a Zzap gun or a Lobba (Anyone think one would work better than another?) and a few Big Shootas. It might have a Deffrolla added later.
In other words, am I putting too many eggs in one basket, points-wise, with a fully loaded Battlewagon?I figure worse comes to worse, the BW explodes before I get a turn and my nobs probably won't die or even take a wound, and they are just left footslogging like they have to now.
Edit: Might go with 9 MANs and my Warboss. If it matters.
Well, what battlefield role do you have inmind for these meganobz?
I was planning on them being both heavy assault troops (delivered to the front line via battlewagon and charging ASAP) against infantry ( I mostly play against Space Marines, so they're tac. squads) and for Vehicle Stabbin' should my 10-15 Lootas fail to bring it down.
My hope is to charge in with the Battlewagon, deliver the MANZ, have them krump for a round or 2 while the wagon dakkas with those aforementioned guns, then load back in and rinse and repeat. ( probably wouldn't get more than 1 chance to do that with a 5-7 turn game I would imagine.
I love meganobz, but regardless of the transport, I think 4-5 is the magic number for the unit size. You don't want to go overboard with too many meganobz because enemies that are good at killing them are REALLY good at killing them. Regardless of whether there's 5 or 10, if they start dropping plasma cannon blasts on them, they'll be gone in a turn.
Also, 4-5 is more than enough combi-skorchas to wipe out anything with a 4+ armor save or worse, and the powerklaw attacks of 4-5 meganobz is enough to kill anything, period. 6 might be alright too, but 7-10 is simply overkill. You're better off spending the points on an HQ with a bosspole to attach to them, to help them pass leadership checks.
"Any job worth doing, is worth doing with a powerklaw."
I think I'll go with 5. Maybe 6 to avoid the 25% casualty-morale test issue for longer.I just re-evaluated on my own after posting... and realized that would be 400 points. Without upgrades. Now I need to decide if I still want them in that dedicated Battlewagon.
