ok so is it just me or are biovores still busted? every time their shots miss the spore mines count as a unit giving off kill points. Not to mention if there is more then one in the unit firing the mines are deployed touching each other giving a higher risk of them imploding on each other.
I really wanted a couple to help deal with units like lootas that destroy our nids .....but even for the cheap points they don't seem very effective.
Yeah, I know what you mean. The biovores don't seem to be that effective. However, I must admit that I have not yet play tested them. They look like they would only be good against troop heavy lists, like Imperial Guard and Orks. There might be some potential for them since now they count as assault weapons instead on heavy.
I have to disagree about Biovores being a bad choice, they are much better than they were. The wording seems to suggest that spore mines are not kill points, "Spore mines are always ignored for the purposes of any and all mission objectives." Also the spore mines each act as individual models and so spread out from each other after you place them together.
How can you not like Large AP4 blasts either!
Give em a play test because I would put money on them being more effective than the new carnifexes at laying down large blasts.
They are not crap, they go as mortars One blast hit and the other at the edges of the center hit.
possible 3x large blast S4? I used vs IG once now, i had one unit and they killed ALOT, they earned their points back.
And they are not that expensive, i will probably mostly use 3 in one squad, but 1 and 2 might not be bad that either.
And read all the rules / test before complaining about it. =)
missed the part about ignored for mission objectives.
that makes them worth a try at least i just didn't want to use a valuable heavy slot to give opponents a ton of kill points in a game.
They are improved with the large blast. Plus they are assault weapons now so you can move and shoot, you don't have to park them in one spot for the whole game.
On a side note, I had to chuckle to myself at the above comment: "troop heavy lists like guard". I want our local guard players to actually field troops as I'm tired of seeing nothing but 12 tanks roll across the field every game.
