Does anyone here still play combat patrol in 5th edition. I know they removed it from the rule book but just wondering if anyone has tried it and if so how well (or badly)does it work?
Also, how do Orks fare?
I still play that from time to time with my crew. its great when all five of us meet up and we all get a couple of turns or run a mini tournament.
I usually run something like this
Big Mek with KFF
11 sluggas in a trukk with nob pk and pole
3 warbuggies with 2 twinlinked rokkit launchas and 1 skorcha
1 deffkopta with twin linked rokkit launcha
This is quite an evil list because you have 4 vehicles carrying nasty stuff all with the 4+ cover save. Once the trukk is within charge range the buggies split up to cause some nastiness elsewhere and the deffkopta I usually use to scare my opponent into targeting with any big gun giving the trukk a better chance.
Do a forum search for "Warhammer 40k Checkmate" on the Rules Development forum. It's a combination of Combat Patrol and Kill Team, with emphasis on small engagements and tactical movement. Quite fun, though a bit unrefined according to my play tests.. Still, quite fun.
I've recently become a fan of this thing called Dubstep. And you should too.

a search for "40k in 40 minutes" will also bring up what you need.
