Welcome to Librarium Online!
alright gamers, new to 40k and eldar our club is starting a campaign soon and i want to get involed i have a massive eldar army with almost everything in the codex which i have borrowed so now need help doing a list, the guys at the club are very competative so dirty list is ok i think weare starting at 500/750 any help please
You have to give us more details:
- will be a fluffy campaign? if yes give us some details
- will be very friendly?
- there are specific enemies you have a grudge?
- at 500 points will be regular FOC or combat patrol rules?
Any other informations you think is ok for us...
As a list just for start:
Farseer, Rune of warding, Doom
Dire Avengers x 9, exarch, Bladestorm
Wave serpent, shuriken cannon twin linked,
Dire Avengers x 10, exarch
Wave serpent, shuriken cannon twin linked,
Striking Scorpions x 10 Exarch, power claw, Stalker
Total 749 points
not to sure on details yet i know a couple of the others armies plague marines, tau ,white scars,a couple of ork and guard im sure it starts 750 and is FOC winners gaining dice to spend on your army if you win havin to repair what you lost first unless a complete unit dies then you can replace it with something different as long as you have pionts and is still in the proper limits.was lookin at farseer 2 units of guardians with some kind of platform weapon,i love the ranger models so would like them in ,wave serpent, and maybe wraithguard!!!!!!!!!!
You should never ever have Rangers in a Wave Serpent, they can infiltrate to wherever you need them and should preferable stay as far away from your opponent as possible.
Wraithguard and Guardian Defenders are not that great either of them, but depending on your list they can work. If you are taking Guardian Defenders I suggest either a Scatter Laser or EML, with the former being the preferred choice. Wraithguard can be used either as a forward unit, by being put in a transport and used to target tough opposing units like terminators/heavy tanks/MC's, or as a form of mobile cover with a Conceal Warlock and Fortune Farseer (extremely expensive combo mind you). If you are using them in the latter sense a group of 10 with spiritseer is preferred to make them a troop choice, although I wouldn't recommend either tactic in 750 point.
Honestly I second Niraco's list, it's effective, versatile and quite powerful and will scale well when you want to play higher point battles.
Niraco's list has nothing above at Str6 AP5 gun. Sorry, but even at a low point like 750, you need at LEAST 1 Str8 gun. We all know he's going to run into armor against guard, marines, and tau.
My suggestions: This one is a decent Mechanized
Farseer with Doom, Runes of Witness or Warding
10 Dire Avengers, Exarch, dual cats, Bladestorm
Serpent with EML
10 Dire Avengers, Exarch , dual cats, Bladestorm
Serpent with Scatter Laser
Or, if you must do non-mech:
Farseer with Doom
15 guardian Defenders with Scatter Laser, Warlock, Embolden
1 Wraithlord EML and BL
1 Wraithlord EML
As per the "new to 40K" comment I would recommend taking CloudArchitect's non-mech list. IMO mech eldar is a fairly hard army to play. I've recently started doing mech and I'm still learning despite having started 40K 8 years ago and having played 5 armies in that time. The foot list is good except you can't take 4 pathfinders. You'll have to add another or drop the squad for something else. Small squad of scorpions? Anyway, good luck.
PS: Write "PSYCHIC POWERS" on your hand so you don't forget to roll for it at the beginning of each turn. This is something I still sometimes forget to do and its embarrasing.
Cloud lists are good . Foot one is good only in these low point lists. Over 1000 lords lists are not competitive tbh. Mine was one from a vet point of view. For me my best AT weapons are shuriken cannons and close combat weapons but you need to learn how to plan your assaults and mobility around enemy tanks to stay alive and hit in their back/side with your 3 shots of S6 twin linked. i`ll just change in his list the scatter laser into a shuriken cannon: less points and AP value vs 1 shot more and longer range. I value more the versatility of the cannon even is a close range heavy weapon than the only anti infantery use of the scatter laser. and with the points i think u can get a spirit stone for one of your serpents.
cheers got my first test game against a tau army first then a guard army this week,i think the pathfinder list might be a bit easier for me to start.the tournie is starting at 750 .if i drop the guardians to 10 i will then have enough to field a legal unit of pathfinders!!!!

You'd only have to drop like...3 guardians to get another pathfinder. But just so you know, you don't HAVE to field them in two units. It could be one larger unit of like 8-10 Pathfinders too.
If you're going to use the pathfinders, make sure you read up on their rules and LISTEN TO ME NOW haha, so you don't forget and don't need to go digging through the rules.
Put them in heavy cover, that way they get a 2+ cover save against most of your opponents gun fire (this will be helpful vs. guard and tau). You get that save even if their guns have an AP1 or 2. You pretty much get it no matter what unless it's a flamer they are using or a gun with a special rule that ignores cover saves.
Also, you can't move and shoot them. And any roll of 5 or 6 to hit gets AP1.
sweet go for a unit of nine then, looking though the army i have borrowed i only have one wraithlord is it worth buying another one or using something else there are loads of reapers ,banshees etc !
