Welcome to Librarium Online!
I saw the box making guide on the front page and had a thought thats been bothering me for a while. How do you transport bugs? Mine have things sticking off them at all sorts of odd angles and some (Trygons) are just huge and pointy. Also I have a huge amount of gaunts and don't want to stick them each into individual compartments. How do you move them around safely and quickly?
I dream of a day when a chicken can cross the road without anyone questioning its intentions.
I use a foam egg crate for my little ones. It is kind of like individual holders so that might not be what you want. Also I've seen pictures on this web site about a guy that magnitized the bottom of his nids and stuck them to a metal box. this way they would not fall over.
Army's used: Space Wolves, Tomb Kings, High Elves, Tyranids, Tau and Eldar.
The way my playgroup carries armies is in carrying boxes (they cost like 15€ each) filled with standard cheap foam (10€ for a huge sheet). You then cut out the foam as you need it for your army, and all set!
Necron Army Building Maxima: Beware of Phase Out
What I'm doing is a reverse to the previously mentioned magnet idea, and it works out pretty cheap.
Glue washers in the bases, and line the floor of your 'case' with those bendable sheet fridge magnet things. A lot of business like to print out promotional magnets so you can get these for free, and the washers are cheap as. Plus the added weight to the bases stops my Hormagaunts from falling forwards so often...
It doesn't make for the strongest magnetic bond (largely depending on your choice of magnets, of course) but my setup can dangle Warriors upside-down, so provided you dont kick the case around it should avoid a lot of accidental damage in transport and saves you having to sculpt individual places for each unit.
I use this reaper case I bought at my local hobby shop for $50 bucks so it's expensive but I take to of them and flip the one so its facing downward, pluck out some foam, and have two sheets holding all my big bugs. It's not very cost effective but I also have heard there is a metal case you can buy at home depot supposed to be used for tools that only costs $25 and is great for transporting monstrous creatures. As the the little guys I just plucked all the foam out of one section and just threw them all in there, it's easy.

Necrons: 1000 Points (4/0/1)
a box stuffed with tissue paper
I am currently making a box like the guide on the home page. I am using a combination of 2 carnifex bixes, 2 trygon boxes, a battleforce box, and leftover plastic after I took all my bits off. The battleforce box bottom is the perfect height to fit my MCs except for my trygons. The trygon bottoms work my medium models like warriors. I use the carnifex bottoms for my termaguants and hormagaunts. For my trygons I plan on making two piller like boxes on top which will give me a place to store them and make my box look cooler. I'll try and post pics when I'm done, but it may take awhile.
Several Battleforce boxes crammed with broken Tyranids metal models.
The gaunts are too frightened to move as a result.
Arch Overfiend & Grand Despot
I currently play:
Doom Eagle Space Marines
Hive Fleet Omega Tyranids
Goff Ork Boyz(dead)
Tau of O'me
Inquisitorial Xeno Hunters
and my attempted foray into fantasy
'Dark Angel Green' Dark Elves in need of fluff
I got a box full of these small polystyrene things (can't think of their actual name lol), I use that for my gargoyles and hormagaunts. Termagaunts I chuck in a foam tray. With my Trygons i'm lucky enough to have a shoebox that all 3 fit in perfectly when wrapped up in bubblewrap, zero movement for zero damage
