Where may I find dual boneswords? I'd like to arm various models with them, and wondered if any set has two boneswords or do I need to do some converting?
Thanks in advance
Old 2nd edition warriors came with metal or plastic dual boneswords which would be ideal for the bioweapon. You can't get better than GW made! They are hard to find though. Every so often you can find a squad of old warriors selling on ebay which luckily have boneswords attached but even then the competition will be fierce and they will get expensive.
I would love to use the old plastic swords but I've decided to convert them seeing how I'm not willing to invest that much for small plastic swords. I'm gonna use spinefists for my conversion.
You can try to make your own, here are a few ideas of mine.
Talon choppy You can try to cut off the scything talons for the Tyranid Warrior and convert them. Put them on held on the top of the hand instead of the underside and point them so the curve is facing forwards instead of backwards. Often a different paint job from normal scything talons may help to single the boneswords out as being different from typical scything talons. You will need to pick the right arms for the job, the scything talon arms or something like spinefists.
Plasticard You can also try to make them out of plasticard. They will have to be cut into the right shape and may require some green stuff to help make it look less like a flat piece of card. Some work and modelling skill will be needed to do that though, but if you feel up to it I think it may give the best results.
Necron glowy rods Perhaps you could also try to get some glowy green/red/blue, etc pieces of plastic that are similar to the green plastic rods Necrons use. That kind of plastic (to the best of my knowledge) can be ordered off the net. It may be possible to get the right shape that seems to be sword-like and about the right size for a Tyranid Warrior. Stick a pair of something like that on and I imagine they will pass for a pair of boneswords. You can then claim it is glowing with psychic energy, hence the transparent glowyness.
As johnthedruid said you can go on the hunt for them on ebay but they will likely get pricey. On the upside now that there is a market for them they will be put up for sale more often I imagine.
you can mold them i grab clay, press in the piece i want made, get pewter scraps melt them poor the pewter into the mold bam a sword it takes about two or three tries pewter can be melted in a spoon on a stove low melting point.

Or, you could simply paint scything talons Lightning claw-esque.
but thats boring >
What I do is cut scything talons at the wrist, Re-positioned so that the talon is facing upwards and clean up with greenstuff.
my boneswords are then simply old sprues that have been cut, jagged and crooked, stuck about 3 of them on the cut-off talon and paint them black shading into bright red, then use strands of glue-gun to create a webby effect, then paint the webs ala' lightning.
I must say myself That it looks quite good, Id get some pic's up but my camera is on the fritz.
I go with the quick and effective snip'n'swap, which I think was mentioned above. Basically you get the Scything Talon arms contained in the Tyranid Warriors box set. You then clip both "blades" at the "wrist", you then put the left "blade" onto the right "wrist", facing up instead of down, and do the opposite with the left "blade". The reason why you swap them over is because this makes the "hands" gripping the handle of the bonesword face outward, which makes it look a lot more swordy. These swords tend to look more like cutlasses, which is fine by me, I like the idea of my Tyranids being led by hyper-intelligent, bio-engineered organic pirates
