Looking to up my army and I was hoping to get some advice.
These are all the models i have atm:
30 Necron Warriors
9 Scarab Swarms
1 Necron Lord on Foot
The armies I play against are mostly Space Marries,
Tau, IG. All of which are predominately Mech armies.
I played against the one guy last week that had
3 Dreadnoughts, 1 predator, and a Rhino. This of course
was in a 1000 point army... He says he has up to 5 Dreadnoughts
I was thinking of something along the line of Destroyers or Heavy Destroyers.
1000 points my army is
DEVASTATION at it's finest!
My 2k army is this, plus Monolith, Deceiver (RULES!!!), and fill in points where you see fit.
Honestly, my 3 BEST threats are. TONS of destroyers, the Deceiver is a power house (better than Nightbringer personally), and the Monolith is always nice. 30 S6 shots per turn is brutal, especially to an all mech list (and PUNCHING transports with ease). The Deceiver is gorgeous with his extra movement DURING the opponents phase, i've had him move about 24" before to assault because of it! Plus the price on their face, when you say, oh yeah...it ignores INVUL saves too...unless that named character was in a command squad...he's INSTA dead as far as marines are concerned.
Btw, if cost is an issue for you, try Ebay and get Destroyer SPRUE sets. I find lots of bits guys on there and I scored groups of 3 destroyers at about $35 for THREE (including the shipping)!!! That's a huge savings!

Thanks for the advice. That army list looks orgasmic xD.
Still not sure if i should at least get some heavy destroyers, althought they do only really last like 2 turns
they pack a hell of a punch.
Dark, sometimes i think you like your destroyers a LITTLE too much.
Not that I'll argue, they are the best unit we have (and not by any small amount) just...sometimes it's ok to have a little more flavor.
Consequently I suggest picking up at least another 3 to use for the time being. Buying a couple heavy destroyers and magnetizing them would not be out of line either in my eyes. This would give you some flexibility for later (I plan on doing it myself) it does sound like you need more anti-tank punch, which Destroyers and HDs are rather good at.
After that a personal favorite of mine is tomb spyders, they hit hard, take hits reasonably well, and are a cheap way to push back combat. Also if given a chance, they will cleave through vehicles without blinking. Perhaps having a couple around could keep those dreads in check?
ive got :
lord wiv RO
wat should i get next?
And don't get me wrong, I totally agree with a simple END tip extension magnet for making them Heavies. My buddy was trying to make my triple threat list a quad threat list...I haven't tried it, so it's THEORY hammer at this point but imagine. You'd have some serious anti tank anti terminator and 5 would really HELP WBB insurance or take a HUGE focus fire bit. 30 S6 shots is going to maul everything else (tanks that are missed, horde armies, etc). Monolith...enough said. Ctan...well, powerhouse. Hide your warriors in the back while everything else carries the team.
5 Heavy D's
(fill in warriors, misc)

Well I like to use it to bludgeon in my enemies' skulls!
Erm...wait, that's the part I don't like having to do... Curses.
ogre hunter, I'm feeling another unit of warriors for you, kick you up to 40, makes 1.5k and higher games easier. A second tomb spyder (I prefer having multiple bugs) would really help out. Then, as was advised to FrostByte, I suggest grabbing a few more destroyers, they're the workhorses of the Necron codex. Do you have any scarabs by the way?
Come to think of it, the way GW has been messing with codices recently, I have a sinking feeling they're going to nerf the daylights out of destroyers and make all the units that people don't buy amazing, just to revers sales. *paranoid*
i forgot but i do have 7 scarab swarms .
by the way , not wanting to change subject to much but who do you think is more effective in cc out of the nightbringer and abbandon the desploiler?

i always recommed a second necron lord to any list, for high point games give them rez orb, philacrity, warsycthe .
Space marines 6 dread army Wins: 4 ties:2 Loses:7 Modified Standard nilla marines Wins:37 Ties:8 Loses 42 Daemonhunters Wins:3 Ties:0 Loses:1 Full assualt concept army wins: 6 Ties: none Loses: 2
Abaddon will hit more easily, wound on 4+ (with re-rolls I believe) and could have anywhere from 5 to 10 attacks. The nightbringer on the other hand will hit a little worse, wound on 2+ and ignores all saves (once you inflict a wound, its a guranteed wound). 4 vs 5 wounds but Abaddon will strike first.
Abaddon can make short work of the nightbringer if he inflicts the wounds and if lots of failed inv saves are rolled. However, once the nightbringer lands a hit, it is almost guranteed to become a wound.
But rather than saying Abaddon is better than the nightbringer, he has more advantages in particular areas of CC.
Now, lets close that for now. If you still wish to debate it, I'd start a new thread if I were you.
