I recently played a game with a friend of mine whos starting to get back into 40k. He played with the last edition necrons years ago. My question is he could only find his last edition codex, but said most of the change came in the fluff section. My question is, are there any huge differences in the rules between the 2 codexes? My CSM army ended up slaughtered, which I'm okay with as long as it doesn't have to do with his old codex.
Necrons haven't received a codex since 3rd Edition, so at this point they are two editions behind, and the reason your friend can't find his "newer edition" codex is because there really isn't one. The Necron Codex was re-printed with a bit of errata clean-up added in, but it was still the exact same codex other than that. Crons have only had one Codex released, you could say it was "patched" though.
So sorry to break it to ya but you're buddy beat you with a codex an edition older than yours (and may I add, reasonably more difficult to win with in 5ed.)
We need a codex update. You got beaten by an OLD codex LOL.
Ye Old Necrons (R.I.P.) (7000pts) W52 D5 L9
New Crons!!! (5000pts) W1 D1 L1
Blood Angels (2500pts) W4 D0 L1
the revamped necron codex was released to be up to date with the launch of 4th ed. truth be told you got spanked by an outdated codex and odds are good you didn't use a defiler or khorne berserksers to really punish his warriors
Only difference between the two codex's released was some wording about living metal, and a little bit about the ctan's
Other than that, you just got spanked by an old old old codex.
How did you play against him? I use both necron and CSM, so I use either or to teach new players the game.
Yes, I did deep-strike your sister...
