    Boneswords for Christmas

    It's a Tyranid Christmas!

One of my favorite new broods for killing space marines or other tough units is warriors with boneswords, scything talons, and adrenal glands. On a charge, they are incredible, even against plague marines (I have a friend who loves his plague marines).

I had plenty of warriors with rending claws due to my army composition under V4. So, I did some hacking, cutting of styrene, and greenstuff work and the brood is just about ready. I need to primer the arms (tonight), attach them, and then paint the arms (the warriors were already painted).

My next gestating project is a mycetic spore for these happy fellows.

My list is working on the idea of constantly applying pressure to the enemy. If most of my reserves arrive on turn 2, the enemy is going to be having a very bad day. Spore'd bonesword warriors, lictors, outflanking genestealers, and tunneling trygon primes (and maybe a spore'd carnifex) spells serious problems for the enemy.

I don't know how 16 people have looked at this and not commented. That greenstuff work is absolutely awesome! Also, the plasticard swords look great (albeit a tad on the large side). Very impressive overall conversion!

Really good work man! wish I had that kind of skill with greenstuff and plasticard
I haven't tried massed boneswords out yet, but it definitely seems like one of the best options for the warriors. I'll have to try them out soon.

Thank you. I'm still rusty from where I was at 3 years ago (haven't done any conversion work in a long time), and I made 9 sets of them total - so I didn't want to spend a huge amount of time on each.

Take a look at how evil a charge by a unit of bonesword and talon-equipped warriors would be against space marines, especially with adrenal glands. High WS, high I, high S, lots of attacks, some rerolls, and they ignore armor saves. The trick is going to be making sure the enemy cannot focus on killing the warriors off. That's why they should work in my list where a bunch of high threat units (trygons, lictors, and these) all arrive on the board about the same time.

I'm also going to make some shrikes with boneswords. Screened by gargoyles, that unit should be pretty scary and survivable. My one big worry is battle cannons...

You sir are a charlatan. I was expecting to see some news from GW about plastic sprues coming Christmas! lol

All jokes aside, very nicely done mate.

Regardless of the context, do not use expletives, especially when referring to another member.

The greenstuffed arms are the most impressive part of this. Very nicely done.
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.

I cheated on those, because I didn't want to make them entirely from scratch and pin on the spinefist hands. They are the spinefist arms, built up with greenstuff to look thicker. I have made arms from scratch before, but didn't want to do 16 scratch-built arms.

    Here's one scratch-built arm I did for a carnifex:

That's clever, I think I may try that idea sometime becauce making Tyranid arms is sooooo totally, hard. Those boneswords you have made are very cool. They will look very good when you get them painted, you will have to show us pics so we can gawk at them.

That Carnifex is cool too, what's his name?
