Here's a practical question rather than a gameplay one.. for those of you who run war walkers, what do you use to get them from A to B in one piece? It's a cool model, but incredibly fragile. I've made a custom box to get 6 around reliably with no chance of them getting bashed, but was wondering what experiences you guys might have had with things like battlefoam etc?
I run Mechdar with 7 skimmers or 6 skimmers and 3 Walkers in 1500pts. I usually take the very top (thin) level out of my small GW carrying case and fill that with most of the tanks. This creates a lot of pressure as the skimmers and walker bases are thicker then the little foam layer. Because of this all the tanks are held in place throughout the journey, even though I put the case in my backpack and its on its side the whole way.
In my gw cases (i have 2 of them) i glued 2 layers of foam and then cut in the different sizes. 2 layers of foam can keep 1 walker standing down and even 2 tanks over eachother with a small foam layer between them. I transport in such way in 2 cases 6 tanks, 3 wraithlords, 2 walkers, 1 avatar and 10 horses for my high elves army. Turrets have their sepparate locations, prism turrets in spaces like walkers space with more foam pieces to keep it immobile while falcon serpent turrets can be fit easily by a small cut in a single layer of foam...my only problems are that i have 4 jetbikes and some vypers but only few space left (grrr transporting 5000 points of eldars and some hight elves is bad) Ussualy the bikes get over the lords or walkers with some foam to keep them scratching of each other.

One night at my local gaming club this fellow came in carrying desk drawers, as in he had pulled a bunch of drawers from dressers and magnetized the bottom - all his minis had magnets under their bases, this is a great way (if space consuming) to transport funky models like War Walkers, etc. - magnetize the base then find some sort of tray and magnetize the bottom, then all you do is put models down and they hold just fine, so long as the tray isn't violently thrown about too bad, everything stays perfectly still. Just a thought.
"If you can wait til I get home, then I swear we can make this last."
I use a 4'' piece of Sabol foam, it's tall enough to pluck a square sized for the walker and then just fit it in. I've got my 3 war walkers plus my avatar in there with plenty of space to expand for other stuff.
I've got to be honest, I've never had a problem with them breaking, though all the weapons are attached with magnets.
A small cat food box, the ones that you usually get wet food from. A little wider than the walker bases and just long enough to fit 3 walkers in there, I'll usually put like cotton/paper/socks in between the walkers to keep them from rubbing each other depending on whats just kinda laying around the house on that particular saturday.
