We come together again to discuss the missions of the Warhammer 40K game, and specifically, the Necron response to each, this time, Capture and Control, our last mission! (Until that new mission book comes out...)
Necrons have many missions and purposes to achieve. All of these are mysterious and unknown to the mortal races. Lost artifacts, Tomb Outposts or power nodes. At the same time, enemy positions must be destroyed, whether the mortals have set up communications posts, fuel stations, or sentry bunkers is irrelevant, the living must fall.
So Necrons, how do you handle Capture and Control? What units and tactics do you find most beneficial in this setting?
(Sorry for the lack-luster quality of writing on this...missions are really hard to spice up three weeks in a row.)
Place Warriors, Lord and a Monolith on my objective

I can't recall playing an actual capture and control mission but i imagine that you'd be using similar tactics to seizing objectives and holding them (unless there is a distinction in this mission?).
I'd bulk up the control point with warriors and whatever other support I could get my hands on. A monolith for good measure and plenty of destroyers for turbo-boosting onto their ground. Deepstriking a monolith would be very nasty as they take a heck of a lot to shift.
Still, I'm more interested in what people who've played the mission have got to say.

Since it's only 2 objectives and I get to HIDE one myself, I have a simple strategy. Depending on my opponent my Warriors will sit either halfway back or further corner back if FAST assaulty opponents (in cover) with the lord to HOLD the objective. While my MOnolith, 10 destroyers, and Deceiver (if not a squad of warriors too) move to contest or if lucky capture. However, I typically leave all warriors BACK on the objective in case they deep strike something on me, etc. My goal is to contest his, and hold mine.
The Warriors & Lord+orb hold their own, while the Monolith, Deceiver, and Destroyers clear the path. My monolith is the BEST at contesting objectives. Move it towards it by end game and FORCE him to waste tons of anti tank shots at it. I love when my opponents shoot at my non necrons...allows some devastating results.

I actually played my very first necron game today as a 1125 pt Capture and Control against Space Marines. I had brough 1 lord with orb, 2 squads of 12 warriors each, 2 squads of 3 destroyers each and 1 wraithlord with 6 scarab swarm escort. The marines were 4 tactical squads + 2 rhinos and 1 scout squad.
I set up with warrior phalanx keeping my objective and destroyers providing firepower were needed, swarmlord was in reserve and was intended for contesting marine objective. Unfortunately i lost all destroyers quite fast to krak missiles, but otherwise the plan worked nicely, the swarmlord turboboosted nearer, assaulted the marine captain and his squad sending them fleeing from the objective and forcing the marines to pour pretty much all fire they got into lord and his swarm to bring it down. In the end when the lord failed its WBB it looked like a draw, and would have been, except at last round my opponent carelessly moved his last marine away from his objective... I guess my "Lord of the Flies" unnerved him so much that
