Welcome to Librarium Online!
I heard that Harry from Bell of Lost souls, who is suppose to be the all knowing forecaster of things to come, says that dark eldar and necrons are coming out in the next 12 months. Has anyone heard about this or any additional things about this that they could add to this thread. Thank you!
So far, there is nothing but the rumors (the usual state for DE), but we do know that Jes Goodwin has already had some lengthy time working on new models (there was a GW podcast interview a while back). That knowledge, and the good support for DE in Planetstrike and the upcoming Battle Missions book does help give credit to Harry's comments. Still, 12 months is what we've been hearing for several years now.

I think DE will be out this year......
They need anothe Xenos race after BA.... so its got to be DE or NEcrons.... and there are stronger rumours for DE (plus possibley more players?)
We don't need anew codex, we need more fluff and a few new models.
If we get a new codex they'll dumb it down and change tons of what makes DE unique.
They will change the DE to make them more mainstream and more popular, so that they can make more money off of them. If they get a new codex they won't be the same.
The Emperor Protects
IG Best Gen 1st overall of 10 DE 4th overall of 6
Eldar 3rd Overall/Best General of 26--2nd Overall/Best General of 7--1st Overall/Best General of 11
that souds like what will hapen to me. DE are going to change, but we should get some crazy stuff, concidering what all the new codexes are like these days!
Dark Eldar: 9/1/2 Winning streak: 6
Tyranids: 16/3/4 Winning Streak: 8
inquisition:4/0/3 Winning streak:0
Will be a realy fast army with some nasty staff, I guess Soul drinking things as in the DOW. They`re going to be popular.
So, I agree
I don't know if there will be a new codex before the end of 2011. So far I haven't seen any pictures of new models posted anyware. Besides GW is planning to update fantasy and have a new starting box for them so they still have enough work getting those models done...
My guess is Dark Eldar or not on the top of the priority list.
On the other side Kevins remark might very well be true: our special rules might dissappear and we may get back only some mainstream USR. On the other hand it might be nice to see some wargear and special rules which actually work or even see more than 5 unit types to be vial for army list creation.
I believe that the Eldar and the Dark Eldar are being timed for re- release together and that the background story behind this is that they are the worst of enemies and they will always exist this way
So buying the supposed box set containing them both makes perfect sense –
• It spreads the risk around of DE being a flop again as the Eldar race is far more popular and many sets will be bought for that content alone,
• Many of the models may be interchangeable, in particular the Jetbike and maybe a Harlequin or two,
• Both armies are going to be very strong in the Fast Attack choices,
• And I think that many of the rules will be cross codexed and common between both races (with the obvious twists that will distinguish them though.)
These are my thoughts so don’t go asking for proof please.
As far as Codex Dark Eldar is concerned, it badly needs an update and the update will not reduce any model’s abilities. Why? Well 12 years worth of Codex creep will ensure that we will only get an increase to balance us out in the modern world and the core rules changes have taken care of the few rules that have actually over powered us.
Again, just my personal take on it.
In a controversy the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves.
I'm going to hazard a guess and say that, at best, there's a 50/50 chance the DE codex will come out this year. With the army already 10 years overdue for an update, GW probably doesn't feel as proportionally bad about setting them to the back burner again and again. And the claims that GW is waiting for the 'right time' to totally saturate their efforts, sales, and advertising with a fringe army just don't seem plausible; sure, they make some bone-headed decisions, but even the worst of them know better than to focus an entire quarter to selling only one army, a business practice that I've never heard from them before. If there were bits and pieces of progress on DE, they should have been availible by now. I would be surprised... no, shocked... no, FLABBERGHASTED if the new codex came out before my models were sold/lost/destroyed in a fit of rage.
BTW: At a far earlier date, I said I would be able to build an Apocalypse-size IG army before GW comes out with the new DE codex. I'm already nearly 6 demolishers, 3 Chimeras, a Leman Russ, a Hellhound, and several soldiers in. A single superheavy tank should easily put me over 3000 once I get everything built. We'll see who finishes first. >: )
EDIT: BTW BTW: That 'earlier date' was mid-December, 2009. I'm surprised my army got this far in such a relatively short time. :/

There are only guesses floating around and some of them maybe more educated in their guess than others - face it, if they are coming out this year they really, really did a good job keeping their mouths shut so far.
The only educated guess I could add is that in January (or somewhere around there) GW put out a release schedule for 2010 models. Several of the sites with rumor sections posted the same list and I think one of them actually had the scanned release. All of these posts copied the scanned sheet verbatim, here is the LO version of that post.

Maybe they just wanted to reserve a slot in the release schedule but none the less it is an educated guess that something DE is going to be released this year (barring any unforeseen circumstances).
