Welcome to Librarium Online!
I dont know if this has been posted earlier, couldt find if it has.
But has anybody tried using Kasandras for the purpose of infiltrating/outflanking with a none scorpion unit?
For example imagine outflanking with a 10 man harlequin squard, 10 man wraithguard squard or 20 man stormguardian squard, maybe even a maxed out seercouncil?
None of those units are aspect warriors, so he can join them, and the shadowstrike special rule only states that the ability cannot be used for infiltrating/outflanking if an autarch is part of the unit, it doesnt say anything about other units.
Is it me thats missing somthing here? otherwise that makes karandras one of the best HQ choices in my book.
Can't work, check out the Exarch Powers paragraph on pg. 21.
oh yeah yor right, I totally missed that...
Don't worry, a lot of people miss that one the way it's tucked away in there. If you like the idea of putting a PL in a non-Aspect squad though, Jain Zar (or Karandras for that matter) are seriously nasty in a footslogging squad of Harlies, with VoT keeping them safe.
Genreally I'd recommend Maugan Ra with harlies. You get the s6 shots from him on approach and he's basicly the same in CC as Jain Zar. Karandras does pack more punch and is much better at punking vehicles, but the I1 does hurt against alot of CC units.
Thanks for the replies. But its not so much that i want to have a PL with a none-aspect unit, its more that a was thinking of making a list that capitalises on reserving and outflanking.
the idea with karandras ofcause dont work as i just learned.
But I was thinking of creating a list with somthing like 30 outflanking scorpions in wave serpents and 2 min. sized units of avengers in wave serpents, joined by 2 autachs.
Reserve everything first turn, second turn everything comes on on a 2+, including ofcause the 30 outflanking scopions.

if we had assault vehicles i'd try that too..
switch it to fire dragons and we're having a conversation.
I think it could work fine even though its not assault vehicles, why wouldnt it? im planning on proxien the army list and have a go with it.
Well, without assault vehicles we have to move on, then sit there a turn being shot at, before being able to disembark and assaul the following turn. It loses alot of the bonus of outflanking. After all, if you just wanted to get a vehicle in position to assault he following turn you could take banshees and move them on from your edge. Wave serpents can move 36" a turn with star engines, and you're going to be in the same place with a more killy assault unit.
