Excuse me if I'm just being noobish here, very green with all of this:
I've seen lots of reference on this forum and others, as well as in the Codex, to the Tau's use of twin linked weapons on XV8s/Battlesuits, benefitting the user through re-rolls to hit (or to wound on a template)
However, haven't seen any examples of builds using 2 of the same weapon, unlinked, to allow the user to fire both with a multi-tracker, but not with the re-roll. In my head, 2 burst cannons fired consecutively would be pretty cool, especially with some marker-light bonuses to BS, and on a squad of 3 elites, for instance?
Have I not seen this because: a) it's illegal, or b) it's not very effective? (I know that doesn't leave any good options, but I'm just curious, I guess )
Cheers in advance
Not possible/legal. Two of the same weapons are always twin linked, read the codex.
The only exception to this would be Commander Shadowsun and some of the forgeworld suits.
It's illegal. Two of the same weapon counts as twin-linked. It would be fantastic if a suit could mount two of the same weapon and double the volume.
Maybe next codex....

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
Cheers dudes, I was miss annunciating the bracketed "(counting as a twin linked...etc)" in the codex entry - see what you mean now.
I was having a nerd-splurge over 18 burst cannon j-s-j shots from XV8s, rush of blue blood to the head etc. :-)
Tau look awesome - to think I was even considering getting some Marines! Asian Mech armour zen laser killers are so much better! Huzzah!!
Most Forge World stuff is not official, so if you're playing in tournaments, then I wouldn't expect you'd be able to use it. Some places differ on that, and of course for friendly games, as long as your friends are okay with it, then anything goes.

Waaaay off original topic, but just to follow on from the Forgeworld costs thing: find some mates, club together to get the order value over the minimum limit for free postage and you get it courier delivered IIRC. That's what two friends and I are doing, saving quite a bit on postage each.
