Ok I just bought the new dred and I was wondering what the best weapons to give it are? I was thinking 3 close combat weapons and a flamer thoughts?
Depends on how you plan to use them. I run 2 deff dreads in my 1500 point army as fire magnets/supporting fire. I equip them with 2 big shootas so they can move and shoot from 36" away, and i fully expect them to die before they reach the front lines. Their purpose is to take damage so the boyz they are walking next to take less shooting. Now if you somehow expect them to make it to closecombat then running scorchas is very efficient since they do AOE damage and don't have to roll BS.
Now before mynameisgrax comes in here and starts spamming about how much Deff dreads suck. Keep in mind point for point Killa Kanz are a better choice. The reason i use deff dreads is because i like the way mine look.
What is dis signature nonsence?! dem stupid human zoggers are always trien to confuze us.
I equip ==My== Dread with two dust motes. This reduces its points cost to 0, but it can only deploy on the shelf and never come back.
Dreadies are meh. Too slow, not shooty enough, and overpriced. If I had to throw one in (Dreadbash with max walkers, 2 Dreads and 9 Kanz), it would probably have 2 big shootas, 2 DCCW, armor plates and grot riggers. It's not too pricey, and it doesn't waste time trying to shoot with BS2. Run into HtH ASAP and see if you can't krump something.

Im planning on doing 2 skorchas, as my army doesn't really have many skorchas so far. (Been playing against SMs mostly, havn't needed them terribly) That way I can run it most of the time, and use the skorchas to thin out the troops I'm about to melee. I was considering a BS or 2, but I think I'd rather run.
Also, it seems like 1 extra attack isn't REALLY worth the cost of the DCC, and the extra skorcha would probably end up claiming as many casualties as the one extra attack. Plus its got a bunch of attacks already... making sure of course you get the charge first.
I am verbose. Sorry.

My dred has a rokkit and a big shoota - that's the way it came in the box. And you know, it seems to work okay and get into the middle of the fight, which is all I want.
I have 2 dreads the now, one with 2 big shootas and one with 2 sorchyas i just run the flamer one up and roast what he can then charge in to combat. Like most have mentioned they take some firepower off the boyz and There not that expensive and Most people i fight fear them.
I like one or two skorchas and Klaws. My main is one skorcha and three CC arms.
I went 2 DCCW's, a scorcha, and a big shoota. I like how it works for me.

Ok I know killa kans are better I bought the dread for a couple of reasons. First the new model is awesome there's no denying that. Second I need the extra rokkits from the dread set so I can put them on my kan's when I buy them cause I want 3 kan's all with rokkits. I feel it's just a waste to never use it. Thanks for the reply's keep em coming!
