Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hi. I've recently been helping a friend of mine develop his first 500pts of eldar. We've decided that he should buy the battle force and a basic farseer to get him started, and then add in more units from there. However, we've run into a tiny dillema... What weapons to put on the war walker? We think we've gotten enough anti tank for a 500pt game in a bright lance platform with the guardians, and we think we've got enough anti infantry with a tooled up 5 man dire avenger squad and farseer... So as of yet out war walker is without purpose. There are just enough points left over in the list for us to take any weapon load out we want, since the original plan was two more bright lances... But honestly, 3 lances in a 500pt list? I personaly think that two eldar missile launchers would make a nice ballanced list to firm the core of a growing army, but I'll leave it to the pros to decide what would be best
Oh and a quick question: Does the war walker only come with one of each type of weapon? And if so, are the weapons from the wave serpent compatible with the war walker, cos we may have to do a bit of mixin' n' matchin' :/
I'd appreciate replies ASAP if possible... Since I see him tommorow.
Cheers in advance guys.

The War Walker only comes with one of each type of weapon, yes. The Wave serpent weapons are not directly compatible with War Walkers, the Guardian Weapon Platform weapons on the other hand are compatible with War Walkers.
The most common War Walker loadout us dual Shuriken Cannons, this is a really cheap and powerful unit in low point games, and is fantastic for outflanking. A slightly less popular variant is with dual Scatter Lasers, these usually don't outflank and form a fire base for an army with their range. The other weapon options are sometimes used, but are quite rare, they can work, but most of time they just raise the price of the War Walkers to a level where it will hurt too much when you start losing them, and with AV 10 all around you will start losing them quite fast once people target them.
I'd also recommend against the Bright Lance on the Guardian Defenders, their low BS in conjunction with the sup-par stats of the Bright Lance nowadays makes it a very weak choice. At 500 point games you will rarely need the Lance rule to kill something, and if by chance you would then you can probably just ignore that one unit and decimate the rest of your opponents force as it will most likely be very small. The Shuriken Cannon or Scatter Laser are usually the best weapons to give Guardian Defenders, although I've had some success with E.M.L.s, I've also on very rare occasions seen people use Starcannons with some success, but pretty much no one uses Bright Lances.
If you are going to use a Bright Lance the best vehicle to put it on is the Wave Serpent, since it will become twin linked. But the most popular weapon here is the Twin-linked Shuriken Cannon, with Bright Lances as a distant second, and E.M.L.s a close third.
I'd go with scatterlasers or shuriken cannons.
at higher point games i prefer to use three warwalkers with ELM, and use them as a fire base, and its worked out pretty well so far with the versatility to take on infantry and vehicles fairly well.
It sounds like in your case the dual scatter lasers sounds like a good compromise for you. If you have flexibility in your options I would give the Guardians a scatter laser, the Serpent a Brightlance (twin-linked makes this very useful) and 2 Shuriken Cannons on the War Walker.
3 Brightlances might sound like overkill but at BS3 you'll be hitting once or twice a turn and so maybe hurting a tank a turn at best. If you roll low on the damage chart you could spend all game doing nothing.
There are a ton of War Walker threads out there which explain all the reasons people teke different weapons.
Magnatize the weapons then you can use what you want, when you want. Check ebay or amazingmagnets.com.

I would also vote for dual scatter lasers. I have a unit of 3 walkers who are guided by a farseer and the number of shots you get that will wound most infantry on 2+ is awesome! Great against horde armies and MEC's alike.
