Welcome to Librarium Online!
i decided to go for a different angle to what most people have done with their own spore; where most people make actual pods, i liked the idea of a splayed capsule that's burst apart after the impact of an orbital drop and whatever's inside has popped out, and also i wanted to model the creature inside that emerges, feeding off the remains of the original host, as per the the fluff in the codex.
so here's my spore before paint:
i've taken some photos of it completed as i had to get it done for a tournie i played over the weekend. the paint job is so-so, but i'll post them up once i've extracted them from my camera and tweaked them
THats an awesome job rep for you, great idea and great work it looks awesome
If you like the post click the *STAR* <===
Much better than the pod. That's how I picture it also. Great job.
That's awesome man! really good job there. If you could create a tutorial for it I would be a happy genestealer
"I have seen you humans, trying to forge an Empire in the name of a corpse"
That's fantastic! Please describe the bits you used to make it.
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.
RIP Warhammer 40,000: 21 Sep 1998 - 24 May 2014
well i kinda just made it up as i went. made a crater base out of polystyrene and just built up a frame of straightened paper clips. then i just busted out the PVA newspaper and toilet paper, and went to town making the shell. a nob of clay in the middle to take up some bulk and just greenstuffing and carnifex carapace pieces for the central creature thing (good to represent cluster spines i reckon). i think the rest is fairly self-explanatory?
here's the painted result in any case:
and here's a size comparison with one of my carnifexes
That's very cool and well finished. I think that the idea of having it wide open like it has landed from orbit is a good one, it makes it more real. I was wondering how it would look that way and you have doen it very well. Reppy for you. I think that the way you have done it shows the effect of the creature inside feeding off the remains of it's host well. It looks good and more interesting the way it is like a little nest. That Carnifex is interesting too, do you have any more pics of it and what weapons does it have?
i'd previously posted pics of the carnie in another thread, but here they are again for you leech:
and my other fex in a similar pattern:
sorry about the naff photos, i hadn't gotten a hang of the camera at that point.
so i just bunged a whole bunch of guns on there ad hoc. just thought a bunch of cannons sprouting off the back with the carnie looking more like an over-sized biovore would look neat.
in game i've used them together in a brood, both armed with Stranglethorn and BL Devourers. they've worked out quite well like that
Those are two very cool Carnifexes. I like the way you have stuch a huge amount of guns on the back to show they have devourers and a stranglethorn cannons. To me it makes them look like more fun that way. The big claws they have are cool too, very big and good for squishing prey. I think it makes them look like Tyrant Guard or Hive Guard a bit. It would be appropriate as Hive Guard are big shooty things and they could be a bigger relative of the Hive Guard.
Thanks for sharing.
That spore it's amazing!!! You are not only creative, you are also a very good painter. Congratulations on that work!!
