How do you play Eldar? What is their strong points, their best assets? How SHOULD they be played? Thanks alot.
I think you need to be a little more specific. Are you going to play a specific craft world or just a general eldar force? Knowing this would help a lot toward answering your question.
"Every day above ground is a good day"
"Sometimes I feel like the winner in the Aztec Lucky Virgin contest"
Well a breif synopsis of how the eldar are is that they have some of the best heavy weapons around. the army is generally quick hard hitting and yet fragile. this is balanced out with several really durable units that arent as fast as others. Also Eldar have some of the most effective psychic powers around. Other then that Id need more information about how you plan on playing. the craft worlds vary the eldar army list quite a bit and change what i said about them to some degree.
You must be specific. I play my Alaitoc like this:
I'll get as many Ranger and Pathfinder squads as possible (6 usually) and the Ranger Disruption Rolls really do help out. On average something gets wounded before the game has started and a few units are pinned or off the field in reserve. Then I'll shoot the crap out of what is left of the enemy after the Rangers have disrupted the enemy. Pinned units take casualties first, and the snipers can pin the units I don't want running around. Wraithlords and Falcon Grav Tank usually take table quarters along with Guardians if it's a Cleanse.
R U 0K!??!? BUHHHHST WUUUULFFFFF!!!
That is one heck of a question for any army, for Eldar it is like ten times worse, as all the others have said, you need to be a tadge more precise for any sort of usable answer.
That said the statement above is an answer in its self, Eldar are hugely configrable and useable in most if not all ways you can use any other army plus a few more that are unique to them
Everything you have been told is a lie!
Very generally speaking, Eldar move fast and shoot alot. Their assualt squads can throw alot of attacks, but this is partly to make up for the fact that they will score fewer wounds as they are strength 3 base. Try Eldar Online in the tactics section for general information on just about anything you could ask.
Games Workshop is the Wal-Mart of hobby products, except for the low prices. The lack of respect and profit mongering is there in spades.
Eldar excell at two things:
- Firepower (2nd now when Tau's here...)
So to play with them you need to use your speed to get your heavy weaponry into position. The trick is clever manouvering, attacking with everything at one point so your enemy can't shoot back. The big disadvantage with eldar is their low T and relatively low armour. So to survive better, outshoot enemy flanks and use that ground to move your army forward safe.
I guess you're playing Ulthwé (booooring), so survival can be enhanced in many more ways and your high BS really brings your firepower equal to Tau.
