so following on from my kroot hounds questions.....
as I am now starting to look at slimming my firewarriors down to 2 6 man squads and including some kroot I have noticed a lot of people using 10 man plus 4 hound kroot squads.
is this the optimum set up?
Also, how do you paint yours? do they have a colour that in referenced to the rest of your army.....say like in the skin or cloth.....or are they painted in a totally independamt way?
people like 10 Kroot with 5 Hounds because it comes to exactly 100pts
as for painting; i give my kroot a good undercoat with white (spray primer, then paint on layer with skull white), then paint the spines(Fenris/Black->Shadow Grey->Space Wolves Grey), then paint the gun and other little knik-knaks. then i take a Sepia wash, and cover all the flesh. I take my Sepia wash again, and give the recesses a good wash, but leaving some lighter areas from the previous wash. i then take Devlan Mud, and carefully put it in the deep recesses.
the final product looks great, and it doesn't take long at all
makes up for all the time i spend painting XV8s
I got with 1 shaper, 15 kroot, and 4 hounds myself. I posted some pix on how mine look. The first 2 is a Shaper with Angkor Prok. Angkor Prok is a special Master Shaper from a 3rd edition chapter approved. He's the 1 with the brown robe. Then the next 3 images are just Kroot and Kroot hounds.
