Welcome to Librarium Online!
I started playing orks in September last year, when I got AoBR for my birthday, i only wanted the SM but thought the orks could be an option, since then ie only bought a box of orkboys and a box of gretchin.
Ive been coming here to the ork forum everyday and ready as much as possible to learn how they play. Il love the orks, they are such a fun army to play. anyway i wanted to post some pics up, so here goes. Please C+C .
I plan on doing a foot slogger army with as many Nobz and Boyz on foot as i can get, sort of mixed shooty\footslogging, ill see how it goes.
Looks very nice. I myself would wash the whole thing in devlin mud. You will be surprised how nice a job it does with shading and dirtying up the model in true orky-fashion.

That's a great start, just remember to trim that flash
ive been washing with badab black, and im not entirely happy with it, and ive see the washes with devlin mud, might get some it does look good. Theres no flash took the pics on the window sill.
I mean flash on the models, mold lines and such
yeah, i get in a rush to assemble them and forget sometimes thats its probably better to take my time.
Since im here, my orkboyz mobs are going to be mixed 20 sluggas 10 shootas, Im going to try and get 10 Nobz and a couple more units of grots.
I want the whole army to be on foot, as i think the idea of massive amounts of orks running across the board fluffy, im thinking that Mek KFF, and grots would be my best bets here for cover, am I right in thinking so?
I would like to include another 3 deffkoptas, (then I have 6) AoBR setup, and maybe a few warbuggies.
Would Kans be a better option than the buggies?,
With the mek i can get a unit as a troops choice and with the boss i can get a Nobz unit as a troop choice but i dont want to max out my troops choices with other units, i would rather keep them for the boys.
Any other options im not thinking of?
First off, it's exciting to see a new player and his first painted figures! Please don't fall into that lazy habit of using unpainted figures....use what you have and it will be more fun for everybody.
Nothing in the army is useless. Kans are fantastic because they look great as well as fight well. You can't mix mobs of sluggas and shootas though...one or the other. They both work great - one is NOT better than the other (no matter what others here might say).
how i missed the fact i cant mix them i`ll never know, im glad they have the new kans are out, nice models, 3 in a box, good price and they are plastic, good deal. I try not to play with unpainted figures, and my wife wont allow me to buy new models unless the one i have are painted (sucky rules IMO) but it does mean i have to paint more....
The hard part is ive got 3 armys going at the same time, looks like ill be getting another box of boys to put the shootas up to 20.
I am running big shootas in the mobs for the added dakka, are the rokkit lunchas an option here or should i leave them for my deffkoptas(at least they are TL)?
oh another question seems a bit nooby, but it says i can replace the slugga on my nob with a TL shoota, im presuming this means it uses two hands, so i loose the choppa as well, but the warboss my have it in one hand and i would imagine a Nob could hold a TL shoota in one hand, no problem.
Am I allowed to have a TL shoota and a PK (or choppa), on my nobs?
Thanks for the help so far, I find it more encouraging and motivational to have a community here than thinking about all this alone at home
If you only buy stuff as you finish painting what you already have, you'll find the hobby doesn't cost you nearly as much. It's actually quite cheap compared to other hobbies! But once you make the exception, the barn door is open and the animals are out....
Focus on one army until you get enough painted to play a normal game. Then you can play with that army while you work on the others.
I find big shootas and rokkits are both good in shoota mobs. There are advantages to each, though I'd go with all of one or the other and not mix them.....it probably doesn't matter.
The warboss can have a TL shoota and a PK. He will not get a bonus attack for two weapons because you can't get it with either the shoota or the PK. I wouldn't go with the TL shoota unless it's modeled on the figure. Definitely go with the PK. Some players fall into the trap of thinking his high initiative is useful. It's not.
The nobz in your boyz mobs should have PKs or you'll regret it. I play for fun, but part of having fun is at least having a decent chance to win the game. It's unfortunate that we're painted into the powerklaw corner like this, but it's the only weapon that gives you a chance against everything. You wouldn't want a Sentinel tieing up your 30 sluggas for a whole game.
Good luck and thanks for the comments!
