So Old One Eye is supposed to be and awesome uber-fex with super-quick healing and regenerative properties right? He can heal from any wound like that! 'snap'
So why does he have one eye?!
Why is that one eye the only thing on his body that can't heal at all? This seems like a slight miscalculation on the part of the hive mind.
Hive-mind: "Crab claws, check. Two eyes, check. Super-awesome regen ability, check...except for the eyes... Hmmmm... Bah! Who'll ever think to shoot at the eyes!"
On a related side note, I currently run three biovores, three pyrovores, and Old One Eye in my army lists. Now picture the models in your head. Does anyone else detect creepy phallic undertones in the current Tyranid army...
not any more phallic than the tonne of misc sacs dangling off most tyranid weaponary.
as for his non-regenerating eye - so what? its just fun fluff, if you want it to be justified there's a fair few ways you can explain away why an imaginary monster alien with magical healing powers can't regrow an eye
Well it wouldn't be as cool sounding if they called him "Old Two Eyes"!!!
You could think of him like Wolverine, except he didn't start off with his regen. ability. Remember, Nids are the ultimate example of evolutionary brilliance. They are constantly changing. So, hypothetically, he survives for a long time, eventually gaining the ability to regenerate faster (admittedly, this is not at all how real evolution works, but oh well), and the regeneration doesn't work retroactively, so he could not heal his eye. **shrug** Just my thought.
Applaud, my friend, the Comedy is finished.
Hive Fleet Charybdis (1-0-0) and Grey Brothers Space Wolf Chapter (3-1-2) [W-L-T]
I saw one guys model of him some time ago, well before the current book, and I can't see to find it again. But someone had given him a GS eye patch and pirate hat. With a little red-parrot like ripper on the "shoulder" area of his shell. So... Maybe he >IS< a pirate? O.o Lol
Old one eye is based on a dinosaur (Tyrannosaurus) from the Flesh comics, the dinosaur also called Old one eye is mentioned on this page.Flesh (comics) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I read those comics when I was a boy. Old one eye was a big and nasty T-rex which had lost an eye to one of the central characters of the comic and is out to kill him and any other humans it can find. It also behaves like a boss for other flesh-hungry dinosaurs, just like the 40K rules. The idea of the Tyranid Old one eye is very similar, a huge monster which rampages about and never seems to die and is apparently inspired/copied from Flesh. I think in fluff terms for Tyrand regeneration the missing eye is meant to show that despite great harm Old one eye refuses to die. It's regeneration isn't entirely flawless and the missing eye is like a scar.

I dunno, but he should cost 40 less point and have a "Blind!" rule that makes it so on a roll of a 1 after being wounded he's blinded for a turn and just thrashes shit in cc, or moves in a random direction the next turn if not engaged....that would be totally sweet... *sigh*
