I wish to start a blood axes mob, and thought alot of gunz would fit the "fluff".
My question is, would a big mek with a shokk attack gun be a good HQ choice for a small list? Or should I stay with using a warboss?
The lists in question would be anything under 1000pts.

I'd shy away from the Shokk attakk gun simply because the damage it'd cause to your army from a bad roll of the dice would be hard to recover from. A warboss isn't bad for a bit more punch in close combat, but you won't be able to take advantage of his main use: as a source of nob troops.
Personally, my HQ of choice in low point games is a Weirdboy, upgraded to a Warp 'ead. Still, a Warboss can also work.

I tried a SAG at 500 points and he sucked. Try it if you want, but i'd rather have the warboss.
I take a Big Mek with KMB, PK, and 'eavy armor. I think he's around 85 pts. Then I will take my Deff Dread as a troop for about 95 pts.

I take a Big Mek with KFF and Burna, works out to be...about 100pts, I then take 3 Killa Kans. This is for 500pts mind, and at that low end of the scale there isn't much that can deal with a squadron of walkers, especially if they have a 4+ save.
