So, would the old Carnifex be too big to convert to a Broodlord? I mean the smiley guy, not the even older screamer-killer type.
As for the screamer-killers, what do I convert them into?
The very old Tyranid warriors have lost their legs, gained gargoyle wings, new warrior heads and are now Shrikes.
The very old hive tyrant is now an Alpha Warrior. (not the Aliens type one, the one with the tail sticking forward between its legs)
Any ideas for the very old Zoanthropes with legs?
Any and all suggestions welcome.
I like to field my old 2nd ed. tyranids exactly as they were meant (ex.: carnifex with 2 talons and bio-plasma). I really like the look of my army with old and new models (sometimes in a single unit).
As for the old zoanthrope, one of them might represent the Doom of Malan'tai.
I also use an old metal tyranid warrior as an alpha warrior (http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i2...3WarriorsA.jpg).

I still field my old fex as a fex. He's not as impressive looking as the newer fexes so he generally gets ignored.
You may be able to pull off the broodlord conversion. However the height of the model may cause you some issues.
The Rhino-fex which is grinning is fine to use as a Carnifex, so is the old Screamer Killer. I converted one of the older Hive Tyrants a bit and use it as a Hive Tyrant. It's just smaller so it gets no upgrades and is my cheap Tyrant.
Alot of the older Tyranid models can still be used quite easily I think.
Thinking about it more since the older hive tyrant is an Aliens rip-off like the genestealers, I may make that the broodlord instead, not a fan of the "Noooooooooooooooooooo" Broodlord.
Perhaps the older fexs may stay as fexs. Maybe proxy the bigger current fexs as a tervigon and tyranofex until I get round to converting them properly.
Thanks for the suggestions guys.
That looks awesome
Can't they take 2 sets of Scything talons? If not you'd likely get away with it being a 'fex. Long as that base is a 60mm
I'm getting an Older fex to be a fex. I would also use a zoanthrope, as a Doom of Malan'tai. The models I wanted to question is the Magus and Patriarch.
I am an Indestructible master of War.
