Victory for Hive Fleet "Silly Army Full of Ripper Swarms" (HFSAFRS)!

In an epic battle against the Ultramarines, I've emerged victorious. It turns out that if you want to take down Calgar, 70 attacks per turn from Ripper Swarms in assault is a good place to start. The 18 Rippers alone ripped apart Calgar's 5 terminator friends, and got Calgar down to 1 wound over two turns. On the last turn they were joined a by Venomthrope. Just guess how Calgar died at the end of the last turn of the game...the Venomthrope's toxic miasma! Completely silly but true.

The final score was my 3 KP to his 1 KP. All he'd managed to kill the whole game was 1 shrike squad. The rippers just had too many wounds and refused to die!

But you forget old one-eyes magic charms! (you know the increase leadership thingie?)
I dont see why you would use warriors, and not zoanthropes in that list
    Siggy.

That was my question, too! Seems like basic tac squads in Rhinos with free flamers would eat this army for lunch. Not to mention sterguard with heavy flamers, etc.
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.

It would be fun to play for the GOTCHA factor. But if anyone knew you were bringing it.. it would be pretty much crushed like the bugs it is.

Good news, the Tyranid larvae won a game, more or less on their own, aww look at the babies.

That is a cool way to deal with the Smurfs, I like how Calgar died too. He deserves to die.

One of the coolest parts of the game had to do with the way the terrain was set up. There was a hill in the center of the board and the Rippers were too small to be seen from the other side. By turn 3, they had crested it and were in charging range. At this point I went round the other side of the table to get a Space Marine's view of the ripper army. The hill was simply covered in a sea of Rippers! The Warriors were wading through them. It looked like every drawing of the "Tyranid Swarm" you've ever seen and was very cool!

As for why I used Warriors instead of Zoanthropes... Its the same reason why I use a Mawloc and not a Trygon. Its why I use a Parasite instead of a Swarmlord. Its why I use Rippers instead of hormagaunts and termagants. Its why I use carnifexes and specifically Old One Eye. Its why I made a Ripper Swarm army to begin with.

I specifically went to forum to look up every unit the most people said was "terrible" and "a waste of points" and "unplayable". I made an army of the "worst" units in the codex specifically so I could win with them and prove the nay-sayers wrong. And that I have done and will do again! Remember, Rippers, Pyrovores, and Old One Eye need love too.

PS: My unit of Pyrovores is almost done!
