Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey I’ve been out of 40k for like 3 years I’ve been seaching through my stuff and I’m ether going to go elder or chaos space marines if I do elder I wanted to know how far am I off a playable army I have
a warlock on foot
a warlock mounted
15-20 dire avengers
3 wave serpents
2 war walkers
A farseer on foot
6 fire dragons
So is this a ok playable army and if not what should I buy to make I ok I’m aiming for a hybrid list so some close combat and some shooting and some mech and some infantry I think. I might find more stuff in my bitz box but I doubt it ok thanks all also my first post in like a year I’m aiming for a 1000 1500 and 2000 pts list thanks again.
I think you can make a decent list from this. Your mobile wing could be DAs in a serpent, Banshees in a serpent, and firedragons in a serpent. Put down guardians and warwalkers for a firebase. If you still have points the vyper or jetbikes could be added as swing units that can move to support the base or the mobile elements as needed. Farseers could be useful in both the mobile or the static parts of the army. I think it would end up under 1500 so more would be needed for higher matches. Perhaps not the most competitive list ( mech eldar is our best build right now IMO ) but I could see it standing up to alot of armies that arn't built for tournament play.
As for what to add some more warwalker or Wraithlords would be my first thought to add some more firepower to your firebase and the Wraithlords could even act as assault deterance to an extent. Or if you build toward mech then I would buy fireprisms a couple of wave serpents and probably some more firedragons.
Hey sorry about massive delay in posting but thanks guys I will try to run a list on those lines and when I got a bit more cash take out some stuff and buy fire prisms in.
Could I ask two follow up questions I’m thinking of buying more jet bikes just coze I want to stock up before the new ones come out and a get more wave serpents so like what’s tho most jet bikes and wave serpents I would need ?
oh and when you say more war walkers do you mean filling out the unit to 3 or getting a whole new unit
Unless you try running a serpent spam army ( min size units to get more serpents on the table ) 5 or 6 serpents should cover you at 2k even in a fully mech force. As for jetbikes it depends on how you use them. Most will take 1or 2 small units for objective grabbing so the 6 you have could work for that as two 3 man teams. If you want to use them as more than just objective units then I would look at 6 with 2 cannons and a warlock. I generally don't field more than 2 bike units though as I like DAs or storm guardians inside a transport as one of my troops but this is personal preference.
Warwalkers are cheap firepower if you plan to run a gun line I think filling out the unit is a good start and if you are not taking other heavy supports ( wraithlords for example ) then they can be a solid addition for their points in the other slots also. It really comes down to what style you build toward if you stay hybrid then multiple units of walkers or wraithlords work but if you build more of a mech list I think a couple of prisms ( possibly 3 ) would be a better fit and investment.
pretty good, but your not going to need the vyper and you'll want to spring for another war walker if your going to use them. guardians are opinionated, but the warlock mounted wont be necassery or advised. 14 more banshees for 2 squads of 10, and guardians arent very useful in hybrids. you may want some dark reapers but they can be pricy but usually make there points back. fire dragons are a necessaty, put them in a wave serpent with star engines and melta those tanks till there isnt anything left to melta (course they'll probably die next turn, but you'll take a land raider with you). give your farseer guide fortune and doom and spirit stones. runes of warding or witnessing are pretty optional. you'll want 2 squads of 10 DAs for an even troop base, and thats all i got. welcome back and gl.
