Coming into my first eldar game this weekend against eldar (and my first time using orks), I know he will bring alot of gaurdians, 2 wraithlords and a phoenix lord (karandras-Striking scorpion aspect). I think im screwed, any tips and advice on how i can at least have a good go would be handy.
I did post my list up a few days ago a
As I said there, i dont have any extra models that arnt in the list, but some tips as to how i can play with it would be good.
On another note, i know grax does his "Your better off with grots" sticky and its great, i love reading it and waiting for the next.
but has anyone considered a tactics section, listing how to play against the other armys, as in their strengths and weaknesses, what works against them and what doesnt etc.
In the SM forum there are the "Breakdowns" by RedArcher which are similar to grax` "YBOWG" articles, but thats about all we have. Since im new here i thought something like that would be here. Any thoughts?
Sorry if ive been rambling on as usual.......
I think that would be a good idea on the tactics but they kind of already exist in individual messages from people like you and me. One of my first posts was about how to fight eldar.
Two things I have learnt are
1/ NEVER EVER EVER charge a unit of striking scorpions. They get as many attacks as us at S4 and they always go first!!!
2/ Lootas are amazing because most eldar infantry get no saves from them and the highest armor value you will likely face is 12
It's not a good idea to write general topics about "How to beat X army" because there is insane diversity in what you bring to the table and what your opponent brings to the table. What Grax does is write HOW to use certain units in a variety of situations, which you are to than apply to games. It's the better way to do it.
As far as Eldar, you sound very not screwed actually. If he doesn't have Wave serpents, it's a very easy game. Your list, as we posted about, needs some tweaks because right now you are slightly vulnerable to tons of shooting. Wraithlords are such an easy kill for Orks, just wail on it with a Nob PK and watch as he barely kills any Boyz. 2 Attacks, hitting on 4+ and killing on 2+? Yeah you'll be fine. The Phoenix Lords are pretty awful, over priced for what they do. Just treat it like any other IC, PKs to the dome. Guardians will have HW Platforms and be on foot, or bein Serpents with Flamers. The second variety is far deadlier but almost no one runs it, so you may not have to worry. If they're on foot, just kill them with Shootas. T3, 5+ save models will go down. They can run too, so force tests.
If he packs Serpents, use your Kopters as Outflankers. Get behind the Serpents, and let them have it. If you blow it up or Immobilize it, that's great. Remember, serpents only have 1 access point, so block it if you charge. This will force and Emergency Diusembark, or outright kill the unit if you surround the vehicle. Very desirable. With your current, as is list, it will be a very tough game. If you convert and make some changes, it's very winnable.

Thanks for mentioning my posts. ^_^ I'm afraid there won't be any more until I find an Ork unit that either needs to be brought down a peg, or deserves more attention then it gets.
Eldar are a very tough fight for Orks, especially if they have a lot of skimmers. They're especially a problem in objective based games, since it's so easy for them to contest objectives with their skimmers. To combat this, try to go second, if you can.
Lootas, rokkits, kannons, and combi-skorchas are your friend when facing Eldar. Also, try and take out any farseers as quickly as possible. The power they can bestow upon nearby units is nothing short of ridiculous.

thanks for the advice, ill keep it in mind. Ill post again after the battle to let you know how it went.
