Why are people on youtube so terrible at playing Tau? I like watching battle reports on youtube of Tau Vs ....., but every single one I watch, the Tau player is terrible, either having a bad list, have a kroot gunline (?), or just make terrible strategic decisions which they go on to say how good the move was and then lose the game as a result.
On this site and other Tau/40k forums, I see loads of strategies, tacticas and list help that are great advice to anyone new or vet, yet these people on youtube who claim to have gone to tournaments with Tau or are masters of the Tau, are just utter crap.
I guess this is more of a rant than a question, but it was just bugging me. Does anyone have any thoughts on the matter?
I think the problem you get is even lossing wont stop them from thinking they are great.
My friend Mat and I, only really play eachother and another friend so we dont really learn from playing others. Therefore we come on here look at what others are doing test/ adapt it and then ask questions if we are struggling to counter the other. We have 7 armies between us, 6 different ones, so we get to face most armies in the game.
Now what i play for tau is not what most people here would agree with (i dont use kroot) but i have a very heavy broad and battlesuit army with Pathfinders, Phirhnas and FW (+ DF). Now people here may not agree with this but i no it works against the people i play, against 2 of the armies i would have kroot (and in an all comers if playing unknown army. But my point is i still play FW the way people advise to play them.
SO in my view these people either are "special" or maybe know what they are doing is wrong and just doing it for fun.
(sorry for going on a bit)
Tau: 6K - W17-D3-L4, Orks: 4K - W9-D0-L2, SM: 7K - W7-D3-L4,CSM: 4K W5-D1-L1, Nids: 3.2K W3-D0-L2
Apoc games (mixture of armies used): W5-D0-L1
oh thank god im not the only one who thinks so! some of these people are terrible! there was one time i was actually yelling at the computer screen to do something yet they'll do things that seem so abstract from real tactics but in the end it turns out they were real dumb decisions. these lists also confuse me and ive played some abstract and uncommon lists (gl finding another person who uses 36 fire warriors in one army). ive never seen such disredard for tactics of the tau, i even once saw a guy move a fire warrior squad right in open terrain and in clear as crystal LoS of a leman Russ somethng (plasma edition). those fire warriors went from FWs to chunky salsa in 1 handful of dice.
There are three kinds of people in this world, those who can count and those who cannot.
