How many MCs should an army have?
That is... as with tank, I believe you have a minimum of MCs to field so that they won't be utterly annihilated by the opponent's AT.
With my eldar army I know that either I field 3 tanks or I won't field any at all, as they will get shot to pieces in the first couple of turns from my opponent's massed AT.
So what is your opinion on this matter and why?
- Just love that maki! -
1 MC per 500 pts seems about right imho.
I heartily agree. Unless you want to really crank out MCs, or go swarm, a balanced list should be looking at 1/500, this keeps you from overspending on big heavies without missing their essential hitting power and durability.
Sounds about right. I run 4-5MCs in a 2000 point list. Unfortunatly even that is abou half your points!
in the army i've been using i have 5 mc's in my 1000pts nidzilla.
And its been relatively successful!
In my standard 2,000 list I use 4-5.
I think most of us are running between 4-8 in 1000-2000 point games alot of the times people forget that the Spore is still an MC and due to that fact I run about 6-8 MC in a 1500 point list. But if we are talking about just the ones that can actually move around then I would have to agree with the 1 MC per 500 points.
Think about the points of the creatures. I find that if I want a really big one (250+ points) then I often reduce by one how many I will take. I try to think about if a particular monstrous creature fits in with any plan I have or if it is just there toi be big.
I would be possible to use three Tervigons in troops with the scuttling swarm rule and one or more Tervigons in HQ. That would be alot and probably all the monstrous creatures that could be used but they would spawn loads of little bugs.
In 1500 games 2 tervigons and a hive have worked pretty well for me so far.
As it looks for me, i'l only use 1 MC in a 1750 list.
