Has anyone wrecked/blown up or attempted to destroy the monolith using DE (DL's/HWG's) or is that just crazy talk.
It's literally impossible to glance a Monolith to death, your Lances and Blasters would be better pointed at Destroyers or even regular infantry. In particular, overwhelming lance fire can make short work of a unit of Immortals or Pariahs. But seriously, ignore the Monolith, go for the Phase Out.
While the typical advice of "ignore monolith, go for phase" is usually quite flawed but in DE's case it is the only option.
Getting haywire grenades that close, hitting and then rolling a 6 is just not going to happen so just turn anything lethal (read: the entire DE army) on those necrons and start racking up kills.

Yes, you can spend turn after turn shooting at them only to do nothing.
Its hard to point the dark lances and blasters at things you cant see. A monolith wall... 3 liths with things hiding behind it the odd shot will go off but it is very hard to get arround without getting slaughtered... Then again, I am talking 2500pts... at lower point values it is a lot easier.
Unless you have the necessary amount of haywiregrenades (about 18 or 36 if it moved) to average out a single destroyed result of either type i'd ignore it. Lances can try to immobilise it, but it's no guarintee.

Talos can work here.
Str 7 +2D6 + Silly only attack once rule = good chance to pen
Mind you talos isn't strong enough to last long against it and a smart player would kill it off quickly =p.
So if it doesn't move, on average you'll get 7 + 3.5 +3.5 = 14
And if it moves 6 it'll be 7+ 3.5 + 1.25 = 11.75
Although the range of values is technically 8 to 19....
It means if it hasn't moved you have a 50% chance of penetrating and then a 1/3 chance in destroying...
But if it moves at all it's down very low odds...
This is just that stupid, overlooked thing that the rules people have failed to realise in terms of our army: we have anti-tank, but we don't have anti-fortress weaponry. Seconding everything that has just been said, it is most feasbile to opt for "Phase Out" and just attempt to rend that Living Metal into scrap metal.
Perhaps that is what our Haemonculi do when the DE capture the Necrons; they cannot exactly torture them, so they could potentially turn it into infrastructure for Commaragh. I can just imagine a Kabal Spire suddenly coming to life...
And if only we could roll 2D6 for the Destructor's Strength characteristic as well as the AP... One can only dream.
Light a fire for a man, and he will be warm for a night. Light a man on fire, and he will be warm for the rest of his life.
My brother managed to blow up 2 monolith's with 40 wyches with haywire grenades it was against a 2000pt power gaming list with 3 monoliths (well i reckon 3 monoliths is over powered even in a 2000pt battle) & he ending up winning that game too
