Welcome to Librarium Online!
I watched a couple of rounds of a 'Ard Boyz tourney today...my first time to see it. What I learned was that 2500 points is very difficult to setup in the odd deployment zones the special scenarios used.
It made me realize that it would be a beating using my Ork army, not to mention moving them. So in preparation of the next 'Ard Boyz tourney, I think I'll work on an army that is easy to setup and use.
My biggest obstacle is not being able to buy anything new (I'm out of work). But I've got a ton of unpainted stuff and will just work around it.
Battlewagons would be key...just plop them down and deployment's done. Right now I have one in the box and another that sacrificed it's cabin for a Stompa head....I figured it a lost Battlewagon, only good for scrap, but it now occurs to me that I have the wheels and back half of it, and an unused stompa head! That should be a fun conversion.
I've also got a Chaos Rhino to represent one I destroyed in a game - that would make a great Looted wagon for a unit of burnas.
So what would be some other ideas? I've only got five Meganobz and noticed today that they are $16 each! Holy crap...so a BW full of them isn't happening. However, I've got a Ghaz model.....
I wouldn't worry to much about playing in 'Ard Boyz as it's a joke and you are experiencing the exact problem GW wants you to have, needing more or different models.
I'd say Mech is the way to go though. This year there was an anti-mech mission but everyone still ran it, it's the superior setup for most armies. Load up on Wagons, probably 4+. Use them to screen an army of Trukks, back up with army of Lootas/Buggies etc. Rinse and repeat.

Cossack, was it the tourney at Comic Asylum today? I missed it personally - hijacked by family reunion. How'd it go?
Yea i also saw some Ard Boyz matches going on at my local shop. I couldn't participate since i didn't have 2500 points.
The only ork player i witnessed did very well with a simple nob biker army. Nob bikers + lootas and a mob of grots is an effective way to go. Two out of the three missions were just "kill the other player" with differences in victory/kill points. So planning for objectives might not be the best idea. Plan your list assuming everyone is playing mech, because they are. Seems like three land raiders was minimum for marine players and guard mech leaf blower dominated the day.
Also come prepared for arguing and with a rulebook. There will be a dispute over rules (mainly because everyone is trying to bend them as much as possible) every 2-3 turns. Overall the matches were fun to watch and I did see some nice painted armies which is rare for 2500 points.
What is dis signature nonsence?! dem stupid human zoggers are always trien to confuze us.
