Welcome to Librarium Online!
I am redoing my Torch squad XV8's because basically they look a bit crap at the moment. I am wondering how to go about this because of the actual rules of the Flamer. Flamers use a template (yes I know we all know that) and twin linked Flamers re-roll all wounds, so given that it only uses one template I do not want to invest in purchasing two flamers for each XV8 (the old ones are missing the box section which I cannibalised for conversions). So my question is would you as opponents accept an XV8 with one Flamer modelled as a twin linked weapon?. I am considering modelling the IG sentinel Flamer fuel tanks as the fuel source to indicate it is a heavier Flamer version to explain the re-roll to wound. What do you think, would you find this acceptable?
I think it would look much neater than having two Flamers stuck on the arms etc.
Viva la Torch squad.
I fairly sure most people would accept it as being a TL flamer. As long as you can clearly recognise that it has been converted I don't see any problems.
That sounds like a perfectly acceptable, sane, and original conversion.
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.

Yep, I'd have no problems there either. I've seen some conversions where the two barrels are stuck together, and it just makes the weapon look that bit more dangerous. I would consider underslinging the weapons, or fitting them into the fists à la Forgeworld style. It makes them look more integrated into the suit, but that's just MHO of course.

Yes no one would mind even if you made no conversions - unless you fielded single flamers as well.
I have some of mine with 2 flamer combined (top on upside down) with sum converting to make it look good. I think it looks good but have one done with a flamer in each hand.
Tau: 6K - W17-D3-L4, Orks: 4K - W9-D0-L2, SM: 7K - W7-D3-L4,CSM: 4K W5-D1-L1, Nids: 3.2K W3-D0-L2
Apoc games (mixture of armies used): W5-D0-L1
If I use the Dreads flamer I would removee the lower forearm from the XV8 competeley like on my Shas'El.
Just shows how successful the Torch squad has been for me that I am going to invest in properly converting three XV8's.
I say go for it mate. I cannot see any issues arising from this.
You have paid the points.
You have it listed on your army list.
You have it modelled.
There are no conflicting models.
Nothing to complain about.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
This sounds very much like some conversions I did with my Orks. I think having a fuel tank on the XV8's back with a tube connecting to the flamer would look good. I made the tubes out of paper clips and it worked well because they're easy to bend into a good position.
