Welcome to Librarium Online!
Now I am really looking for an opinion on the gameplay use of the kill krusha tank, USD to GBP is at a low point (woot but still at the time of posting about 1 USD = 1.47 ~ 1.50 GBP ...damn currency trade) anyway, with Spearhead out and after reading the rules and having 2 Mega-dredds myself i would just like an opinion on the Kill krusha tank.
Personally, I like the rules being an avid ork player myself it fits right in on the randomness and ramshackle of the thing, plus (and a big plus for me) the model looks AWE-some.
so is it better than grots? ./discuss
"Keep firing on that tank!"
The Captain's shouts reverberated throughout the bunker, and not one of the numerous heavy weapons teams dared to defy him. The Imperial Guard Captain shouted until his voice was hoarse, but for all his shouting, his assistant wasn't convinced of the plan, and politely commented,
"Sir, I don't think that tank is the main threat. There are many trukks and battlewagons coming up..."
The Captain's hand dismissively smacked off the lieutenant's helmet, as he gruffly continued to shout,
"Keep firing, or I'll have you all executed for mutiny! Fire until there's nothing left but debri!
A few shots landed, and visible signs of damage were beginning to appear upon the hull of the monstrously powerful kill krusha tank. The Captain's excitement peaked, as the barrel of the Ork gun twisted, and exploded in the distance. The lieutenant took a chance, and once again commented,
"Sir, now that the main gun is destroyed, I believe we should now focus upon those rapidly approaching..."
The Captain didn't even appear to hear them, and kept ordering his men to continue firing upon what remained of the kill krusha tank, even when his assistant pleaded,
"For the love of the Emperor, Sir! I think they've breached the building!"
Small explosions ripped through the hull of the Kill Krusha tank, exciting the Captain even further. He eagerly ordered the teams to bring it down, as his 'useless' assistant ran off somewhere, with his pistol drawn. The Captain made a note to have him court-marshaled after the battle, for his insolence.
Finally, a volley of lascannon shots managed to rip through the hull of the blasted alien vehicle, causing a single massive explosion that finally reduced the enemy vehicle into junk.
The sound of approaching footsteps reminded the Captain of a note he recently made.
"Are you aware of the penalty for abandoning your position during battle?"
The Captain paused for a moment, without looking behind him, before asking,
"Was that a yes or a no?"
"Hurr, hurr, hurr..."
I'm not going to beat around the bush here, I really like the Kill Krusha Eavy Tank. I'm not one for forgeworld models, as they cost an arm and a leg, but the unit itself is rock solid, not only as a great shooty tank, but also as a distraction.
All other things aside, if you wanted a Battlewagon that was similar (ard case, grot riggers, killkannon) then it'd run you about 165 points. So what do you get for the extra 130 points the Kill Krusha costs? Well, it's fast, you can assault out of it as if it were open topped (only without the penalty for being open topped), the main gun is a lot better than a killkannon, and it has 3 structure points. You also have most of the normal battlewagon options, including more guns (always nice on a super-heavy) and a deffrolla!
In short, it's a battlewagon, trukk, looted boomgun, and Ork baneblade all mixed into one, with all the benefits and none of the drawbacks. What's not to love?
Okay, the main gun is a little random, but as my story suggested, it'll also prove to be a great distraction, and since it's tougher than the Ork version of the baneblade, it should hold up against enemy fire pretty good as well!
In conclusion, the Ork Kill Krusha Tank is > or = to Grots. ^_^

"Any job worth doing, is worth doing with a powerklaw."
thank you grax, and that about sums up my first impressions of the tank being a great distraction b/c it will be huge. I know that the 2 Mega-Dredds that i have esp. the one with 2 rippa claws is like 2x as wide a a deff and about 1.5x as high. And yea they get focus fired down pretty quick but that leaves my lootas/LW Boomguns or whatever to clean house.
bs 2 is fail but its orks...
Oh yeah! I'm planning to get one of these things.
FYI - my Gargantuan Squiggoth usually get's hammered down first...but it's still a cool model!
Not terrible....but not easy by a long shot. The creature fit together nicely after trimming and sanding the parts. The howda was warped, so I had to really work to make it fit right.
The biggest problem was about two months after I completed him I took him out of the display shelf for a game and found a small puddle of goo under his foot. I contacted Forge World and was told this is because of uncured resin inside the body and that there is no repair and it will continue to leak until it is all drained out, which could take years. So, they sent me ANOTHER ONE.
Great customer service, but I'm too much of a pussy to build a second Gargantuan Squiggoth! So I sent it to a friend of mine (he'll probably leave it in a box for a few years and give it back)
What I really want is two of the regular Squiggoths to make a herd......
O_O wow that thing is awesome... and that sucks about the resin but the same thing happened to me with FW i ordered the first Mega-dread w/ kill-kannon and rippa-claw got the arms first waited about 2 weeks called them, they rolled on the shipping mishap table and failed so they sent me another body. about 2-3 weeks after i got the 2nd one, the first one just "magically" shows up... but calling them is a pain, they weren't responding to my emails, so 5:30am my time is like lunch time for them :/ but being the only one at my shop to have any real kind of FW stuff is pretty cool granted 'the keep' is no battle bunker so its no big feat... i still need to find bases for them b/c they got real bad forward lean
Seems like a cool tank, but the model itself seems very small for a super heavy, as does the gun. I'm a bigger fan of the other kill tanks, like the Kill Blasta, though I'm not sure if their rules are any good.
