A lot of these posts feature people defending a workable footdar, which feature a lot of comments bashing footdar. Is it possible to combine the two? I like the Harlie-WL marching beast, but the serpent transport of units is common sense with Eldar. I have a 1500pt army, and I think with buying a few more models, I can have a working combo army
2 full squads of Harlies, with fusion pistols, kisses, and Shadowseers
2 WL's with missile launchers and brightlances
The WL's escort the Harlies making cover and taking the hits
Farseer x2 - stone, spear, doom, fortune
DA squad x2 - bladestorm
Wave Serpent x2 - brightlance, stone
5 Reapers, no exarch
3 Reapers, no exarch
Total points are around 1996 if i did the math correct. I'm thinking about taking out the Reapers and replacing them with an Avatar, who would go with the WL's and Harlies.
I usually play tables that have a cover in the middle, so my footdar would go along one side, and the shooty mech on the other. What do you guys think?
The Avatar is an HQ choice, you'd have to drop a Farseer.
From your description why not put the DA's in the wave serpents then dump them in the middle terrain with your harlies moon walking up the board behind them. That way your DA reapers and serpents can start harrassing the enemy and set up a stable firebase. Then when your opponents tries to move into range of your frontline your harlies should be arriving allowing them to finish up. and why not replace 1 squad of reapers with a wraithlord with eml and (maybe) wraithsword as you can't take the Avatar ? That means you have a lil more versatility and some extra anti armour firepower.
If you needed you could attach a farseer to the DA's and have him supporting the guys in cover. Yeah i realy like the list, it might be in trouble if you have a faster opponent. Your Da's should be able to hold out long enough for support to arrive and with fortune on their cover saves they will last fairly long.
you cannot shoot my harliquins because beneath their mask is an idea and ideas are bulletproof
Problems I see are:
-how the WL are armed. Their roles are optimal as a tank busting firebase but harlies are better off moving and running each turn. The WL would have to keep up by also running thus not being able to shoot.
-that list has many heavies. 2x WL + 2x reaper units = 4 heavies
-you plan to have the WLs take the hits but thats not how it'll work. Serpents will get focused first and only 2 troop choices will get minced pretty fast at 2k
-Mech + foot splits your army. Mech portion will be dealt with first, then the foot next. Easily done by fully mech opponents
-Strength of reapers is all in the exarch. Taking a unit w/o him is pretty much like taking expensive heavy bolter devastators due to all the cover around.
