Howdy my Orky Pardners,
I've noticed that although a lot of focus is put on rokkit buggies as anti-armor, not much attention is paid to the Skorcha Buggy. I've used one as a proxy before and it quickly earned it's points back and much more. They present a huge, un-ignorable problem for any horde army. They can effectively fry medium-armored troops, like eldar or tau. Re-rolling wounds is nice, especially against higher toughness units.
I've used them once against chaos, killing some chosen or possessed (can't remember) and immediately making up its points, while reducing an important unit's numbers. They can get where they need to go at high speeds, block LOS, etc. and they're still cheap.
Obviously Orks are well suited to deal with hordes and can krump most troops easily, so they're by no means essential, but they are still pretty sweet.
What say ye ladz, better than grots?
PS I've recently converted one, taking skorchas from 2 dreds and straping them on a warbike upsidedown, pics once its complete and I own a camera
For me its more of the job it does, I use buggies to kill transports and block LOS to units sometimes, i don't really use buggies to kill troops. Will it do the job? Hell yes, i'm sure it'll roast most troops, but i use boyz to kill troops for the most part.
Either way, its a fast unit that can do alot of damage, they arne't played much around here, but i still think its a useful unit.
They are alot of fun in friendly games but just dont cut it in torny play we have plenty of things to kill troops and not much to kill transports Hence why you see deff coptas a rockit buggys rather than skorca buggys
