I played a 2v2 game the other day with me playing orks and my partner playing space wolves. Our opponents were Eldar and Tau and packing a lot of long range fire power. And to make matters worse they pulled a shady move with the table. We usually play on a 6x4 table going across the short way but this game they made it a 6x9 table and made us play the LONG way. Obviously with us being strong CC and they having strong range this is a huge factor. But my question is, how do we as orks deal with skimmers? Specifically eldar. This guy had 2 fire prisms and a falcon sitting back blasting us while his buddy had 2 hammerheads and a rail gun crisis suit. How can we combat that? If you try to footslog you get blown up 5 feet away from them, if you mechanize your vehichles get blown up before they can get anywhere, my idea was next time to bring Nob bikers and Deffkopters. I tried lootas but they couldnt get close enough to shoot without breaking. Any advice would be helpful. And I also already know the most obvious piece of advice "Don't agree to playing the long way on a 9 foot long table against tau and eldar."
In my opinion, skimmer spam is the most difficult fight that Orks can face. You only really have 3 options: shooting them, assaulting them, or ramming them.
Shooting them with rokkits and lootas can work well, especially if you can get around to back armor.
Assaulting them with powerklaws is tough, unless you catch them not moving over 6in every turn.
Ramming them is good, but they get a 3+ save against every attempt. Still, if you manage to hit one with a deffrolla, then it's probably toast.
All in all, shooting them is probably the most practical way.

Sounds like a pretty cheesy set up with the board edge and such- kind of unfair. In a normal game you can use the tactics grax mentioned.
if they use board cheese again, accidently bump them off the edge
We're having a rematch on a standard 4 foot board. And i'm bringing Nob bikers, my teammate is going to deepstrike dreadnoughts and i think we can wipe them up pretty quickly.
I agree with rocket spam. Skimmers have light armour and all your need is to stop them moving one turn and your in. Now if they have spirit stones it causes issues but as long as they cant shoot it makes it worth while.

A setup like that just screams for outflanking koptas though. I'd love to see their faces when buzzsaws blow up their tanks and they have to stand there on foot waiting for the orb mobs to march up 6 feet of table.
Are buzzsaws worth it in this situation? Aren't they still only str 7 on the charge? That does sound great though!
2. You should not be playing on tables that large. Seriously, the game actually breaks if you play on unorthodox tables.
