Hey, guys. I am relatively new to 40k ( currently play Eldar ) and am really leaning toward getting Tyranids as my next army. After browsing this forum and flipping through the codex it appears that there are a lot of options for each individual model, especially the MCs. Just wondering if most of you use magnets for the different weapons and if so how easy are they to apply to Tyranids. The only thing we really need them for with Eldar are the turrets on tanks, but I've seen many variations on almost all the Tyranid models and I wouldn't want to have to buy multiples of each model, just so I could try out different loadouts. Just curious, Thanks.
In theory and practice it is harder to magnatize Tyranids than the vehicles your used to, but it is the same theory and process. Many members of this forum have magnetized Tyrants and Carnifexes, and I am making a magnetized Tyrant myself (its waiting right now).
Remember you need to have the right diameter, otherwise it can look quite obvious that the model is magnatized.
If you have any more questions I would be pleased to answer them.
Have a nice day!
I just started my nids about a month ago and have magnetized the wings and weapons for my Tyrant. I am about to redo my carnifex and magnetize its arms as well.
Like Ruina said, its a bit more complicated than magnetizing vehicle turrets (at least the wings were), but its very possible and follows the same general guidelines.

ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.

I had the same question when I started assembling and this was linked to me
Amazing Magnets - Rare Earth Magnets
the name is true, the magnets are amaing, the 1/8 dia ones will work great of warriors and smaller-medium sized weapons, I havn't used them for anything bigger yet but so far they work amazing for my warriors
If anyone has used any larger size's or used simliar for bigger things the imput would be appreciated
Actually, for Tyranids ONLY Rare earth magnets work. They are the only ones strong enough. I'm pretty sure the same applies for all other armies...
It is some what difficult to start off magntizing but once you get into the flow and have a process down it goes quick. Definatley need them I think when starting off till you find the tyranid playing style that best suits you. Just my 2 cents

In the last 5,000 years humans have not evolved. The things that have changed is our diet its time to revert to our primal nature go paleo http://robbwolf.com
I magnetize my MCs. Arms for the tyrants, arms, head and armor plating for the fexes. really works well when you have one model that can fill 4+ rolls with just switching out the limbs!
