ok so many of you have offered an opinion on the new night spinner and have taken sides on whether or not it is an effective tank, i have treid it against a few types of lists so far and will continue to document their use in my army and their overall effectivness against different armies, this will be using real data from my battles and i will be using them at 2000 points ( 2 of them). so far i have played 2 opponents with them i will continue to post with new armies played, and if anyone has tried the nightspinner againt a different or same army as me feel free to discuss ur own results here,. ok so here is my 2000 point list againt a BA mech list.

as to the battle i will stick stricclty to wat the might spinners did MISSION DOW- 1st turn- nothing i thought i still had to test for night fight with the spinners(****)2nd turn- one hit his termie squad which is now in a crater i kill one with shooting then one from dangerous terrain the other shoots a razorb and prevents it from shooting.3rd- kills one san. gaurd and one wound on dante then he loses another from dangerous the next shoots at him as well and kills one4th- one immoblizes a razorback the other hits a 5 man BA squad out of there wrecked transport kills one does not pin.5th- weapon destryed on a razorback6th- one shoots at last sa gaurd and dante killing the guard one shoots at RB and a squad near it with one kill and a pin no effect on RB. at then end he had dante with one wound left and a immbolized weaponless rhino they did there job in containing his army and causing some kills to boot
i played a trynid player today and the battle was far more one sided he had 6 warriors, 30 hormagaunts ,30 termagaunts ,tyrant with guard ,tryansauor guy ,2 zonthropes 10 genestealers, spores
1st- hit his warriors and hormagaunts in one blast killing 4 guants and a wound on a warrior killing 6 more gaunts and a warrior from dangerous, next hit the tyrant w/ ret. getting 2 rends and one more wound from dangerous2nd- hits wariors+ hgaunts killing 7 guants and 2 warriors total( icluding dangerous)the other hits a zonthrope and tgaunts killing 8 and the thrope! total3rd-.... was no 3rd turn he lost his whole tyrant guard half of his hgaunts one of his thropes and the wariors and some t gaunts, never seen a guy so pissed i lost nothing a few dragons and a waveserpent weapon he forfeit the game.sidenote- guy got so pissed he threw one of his warriors in his box and broke him! he was cursing out loud with litanies to the gayness of eldar, also he said my army was pansey even tho i was in his face throughout the short battle lol. never seen a guy get this mad at a game... this guy needed counciling or somthing i tell you the spectator that was watching the game exchanged bewildered glances when he smashed his warrior,..,, i will never play that guy again their kind give a bad name to the hobby.
so based on the battles so far i would say the nightspinners are living up to there expectations and more, i will continue my battles and describe wat the nightspinners did at a later date thank you.also if u want to comment on your own experiances with them be my guest also there is no hypotheticals here on how u THINK they would do in a battle that is best saved for the opinion on th nightspinner but feel more than free to comment on the battles and the usefulness of the nightspinners in these battles or ur own!hope this helps and good luck!!!!

ya i know b4 the battle he was talking about how cheese the nightspinner was and that his trynid list could handle it... i guess not lol
I find it effective for the first BA list (not a very good one but a resonable one - but that list should had been a vanilla marines and he would had points for some more firepower. Plus his razorbacks were TL lascannons? or lascan+plasmas? cauze tl las is bad against eldar) . Still he allowed his LR to die in 2`nd turn = got for spinners some very very juicy targets that made their points very good. For that the spinner is effective and worthy to consider.
ya my firedragons destroyed the raider in pretty short order but he needed some anti heavy tank in his army and granted the las is weakened vs eldar but they still claimed a few eldar vehicles with surprisingly good rolls! if it was a vanilla marines list i would have smoked it because outflaking predators are pretty mean lol.
I have decided I will be sticking with my fire prisms. I shot the nightspinner at an imperial guard squad. It may have been a command squad they had 4+ saves. It didn't kill one. I looked a bit stupid. So I'm not using it.
Somebody having a hot streak on their armor saves, for one turn, does not mean the Nightspinner is useless. I'm sure Niraco would be happy to list off every hypothetical reason it might be, but some lucky armor saves aren't a decent basis for that decision.

ok so i had a few more battles with the nightspinner against a local ork player at my store this is what he had at 2500
mekboy( or watever gives his guys cover saves)
10 nobs upgraded out the ass in a trukk
30 ork CC guys
shock attack gun
battlewagon with 20 shoota boys
11 burna boys in trukk
3 killa kans
i was running the night spinners and since this is not a full on BR i will stick to wat the nightspinners did only this mission was a mix of 3 obj.( obj. count as 5 kp each) and killpoints
turn 1--- i target the back edge of his battlewagon to try to hit his killakans and lootas in one blast and succeed the next shot goes into his lootas and kills 2 so he is forced to take morall and 2 pinning as i killed one with the other nightspinner but he passes all tests pinning moral difficult and dangerous however i managed to stun a killa kan
turn 2--- as he spreads his guys out i take both my shots on the lootas squad and kill 3 more again and cause a wound on the shock attack gun but again he passes all of his tests 2 pinning and a moral
Turn 3--- after i finally destroy his 2 trukks i target the deffdread and burnas in one shot causing an immobilized on the dread and 2 dead on the burnas however the pinning passes (only one this time) and his dread annoyingly unimmoblises itself with grot riggers
turn 4--- his 30 man ork CC squad comes from reserve and sits on an objective near the lootas so i target the very back loota with both, one misses badly and one kills 2 orks and he makes both saves with his lootas.
Turn 5--- he only moved 5 of his boys and so only took 5 dangerous terrain during his turn his shootas start for a possible last turn obj grab near my end of the table near a squad of DAs, i hit them with both spinners and cause about 14 kills (doomed) and my DA squad shoots to finish them off
Turn 6--- last turn he hugs his obj. and i try to finish off the lootas killing the last of them but the shock attack gun lives thru the barrage
total kills--- 9 ork CC boys, 14 ork shoota boys, 2 burnas, 10 lootas, one immoblised deffdread, one stunned killa kan.
while he passed all his tests the nightspinners dealt a lot of damage to the highest priority targets and had a lot of one turn potential against his army. his list was a good balence between mech and footslogging and it was a tough listr to face, his nob squad ended up dieing from the combined fire of 3 full DA squads with doom he had 2 left and they ran, one of the only failed tests in the game for him but he had boss poles so they came in handy. i havent fought a footslogging ork list yet but i feel that the nightspinners would do even better against such a list. end result was i had 2 obj. to his one and had more kps without the objs. the kps for the obj. were a little steep but i thought it would be a good practice mission for ard boys next year.
PS: the ig mech guy i was talking about is completeing his army and i think he will have it done soon i will continue to post about my experiances with different armys i face while using the night sopinners thx!!!
So in that game against the orks, in hindsight would you have rather had Prisms or other HS units instead of the Spinners, or were you happy with the result?
