Ello all , I am on the mother of all loosing streaks at the moment!
My friends and I generally play every other week or so, we've been working our way through the new missions book and Im taking a beating ,
What would you lot pick for 1500 point battles against,
Marines Who love their scouts and poison shots ( Dam u fexs and your weakness to Poison) and there ability to fall back when in combat, and dreadies with duel flamers,
And Imperial guard who love flamer squads packed in transports supported by tanks =/
Also as latley the guard and marine players are refusing to play each other theres been alot of guard / marine v nid fight and trying to find a build thats good agaisnt both seams hopless
Any help would be good before im forced to steal their models and bbq them out of frustration
Check out our campaign :)
I see Tyranids more as bad karma for 40thousand years of stomping on bugs,
First of all bear in mind theres a good chance its not you, and its infact battle missions thats screwing you over. From experience they tend to be horrfically biased for the army that particular mission was written for
However i can think of two solutions for both those armies very easily.
Marines, take harder and faster MCs. Fexs will be eaten alive by large amounts of sniper scouts. What you need are trygons, mawlocs, Flying tyrants and warriors. Mawlocs hit the scouts hard before they can ever get a shot away, Trygons can take the worst of the scout fire, Tryants will be too quick if you give them wings, and warriors simply outclass them up close and from shooting. This also solves the ironclad, as the Tyrant and Trygon are more than capable of taking him on, and dont care about dual flamers.
Guard, you need hive guard. 9 of them to be precise. The apply the changes above, MCs dont give a damn about flamers and will eat guardsmen alive.
Hope thats somewhat helpful, if you can post more details im sure that will get more detailed responses.
Your friendly neighbourhood gargantuan creature
Stop allowing team-ups between IG and Marines. That just lets them field a super-army on the table every time that doesn't have any inherent weaknesses.
I don't care what "fluff-bunnies" say. You're playing a game, and that game has to be fair, balanced, and fun for all parties involved. Don't ever let folks team up multiple armies against you. That's just stacking the deck.
Besides, even 40K "fluff" is what you make of it. If your friends in this "league" can't come up with with reasons for their IG and Marines to fight, they haven't been paying attention to even the official fluff in the codexes and BRB.
Also, like Heirodule, I also recommend chucking the Battle Missions book out the window. It sucks big time. The missions are wonky and totally unbalanced. So much so that I don't consider them playable or fun for even drunken beer-n-pretzels dice fest playing.
Your list may also need help, but even the best, most balanced army list can't compete against structural irregularities like I'm talking about. You have to fix these problems first before any army list improvements will help you.
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.

Everyone's advice has been very good, but it would also help if you showed us what you have been using against them.
I also agree with #6, just because your two buds have decided its fun to team up and beat on your nids doesn't mean you have to put up with it. Let them know that your getting frustrated and that you won't put up with these onesided fights.
"I am the architect of fate!"
Take a Heirophant, sounds like your friends are wankers anyways =p...
If you are facing two different armies at the same time then you deserve a higher points value than both of them. I think about a third higher. If they are using 1500 points you should get 2000 etc. Their two separate armies have different strengths that they can draw upon to ruin you. They are noly allowed to be used like that together in Apocalypse.
Additionally two different opponents makes life harder for you. Two people will think of more ways to fight you, they are less likely to make mistakes and so present a harder force to beat. Secondly they will both try to defeat your whole army so both of them will play harder making things more difficult for you. More points for you is the answer or they can try to take you one at a time.
