Wanna be part of da boyz(starting orks 'elp)

I've always loved the orks , but never played them
finally have some money to start up an orky army

I just want to ask you boyz and nobz what should I get or can you
say good or bad on my projected purchases

I am thinking on picking up...
2 or 3 of the battleforce boxes(40 to 60 boyz starting ground)
2 box loota /burna (with extra boyz box for left over bitz)
1 box boyz for konversion to Kommandos
1 box Black orks (WF&extra nobz box for Konversions for MegaNobz
    2 box killa kans
    2 grot boxes [objective squaters]
    2 nobz boxes

This is just basic purchase , but can you steer me in a good direction
Looking at this forum , if its worth doing its worth over doing!

Welcome to Orks! I think those are all solid choices, though I don't consider myself an absolute ork expert. Seems like a lot of converting going on as well, which is very fun with orks. The only thing I can see is by buying this much of the top, you may have a lot of units that are useless in certain lists. But you will have a lot of points, which is awesome for larger games (of course). Also be sure to read some of the tacticas on the site, for more ideas how to use these boxes!

The only other thing I could reccomend is a battlewagon, always great for transporting large boyz units, as well as deffrolling, as well as a big mek with a KFF (Kustom Force Field). When I first read about the KFF I thought it seemed kinda useless, but it has saved my trukks in so many unfair occasions. Like honestly I sometimes feel bad haha.

My suggestion is to focus on what kind of army you want to buld then go from there. (Speed Freaks, footslogging horde, kan/deff dread army etc.)

I am going mainly for a slogga army.
trukks and wagons are on the list ,but next big purchase
inherited some money so wanted to buy [ core ] items then some wagons ( 2? ) and maybe a extra trukk
only other bitz are a few buggies just to try speedfreaks once or twice afterwards

If thats the case I'ld start with an AoBR set as well as a pair of battleforces. That will give you a warboss, 5 regular Nobz (perfect for the meatshields in your Nobz squad, 60 boyz, 3 deffkoptas, 6 bikes, and 2 wartrukks. Then the space marine stuff that comes with AoBR you can sell pretty easily or you can trade it out for more Orks. (Also the SM terminators can be converted with some bits and green stuff to MegaNobz )Besides that stuff I would also pick up a battlewagon and Big Mek with KFF. From there build up some lists and play test it all then go from there.

Welcome to the Orks! Have you checked out this thread yet?: http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...00-basics.html

A few people, including myself, put it together as a basic beginner's guide to the Orks.

I agree with the above posters, although I'd like to add that if you're going with footsloggers, than nobz and meganobz are not a good idea. They don't work well on foot. Besides, converting meganobz is very difficult, as they're supposed to be fairly huge.

Instead, I'd use the nobz from the AoBR boxes as kommandos, as they're already equipped the same way. The KFF isn't that necessary in a footslogger list, as long as you have plenty of grots to stand in front of your boyz, to give them a cover save.

    Good luck!

Seems like a decent list of purchases, although I want to urge not to buy that much at once. Besides the "Too much work so I won't do any of it" syndrom, you'll be suprised how much bits you'll get after just a few packs. Also, I would recommend just buying some choice bits from Ebay or other bit sellers instead of getting a whole pack of Black Orcs from Fantasy. Also, the Orc Shield pack can be used for some awesome ork glyphs for vehicles, and is only 4$.

Also, to save money, buy AOBR stuff. If you want 10 nobz, get a box of 5 so you can make special ones like WAAAGH! banners and such, then some cheap AOBR slugga and choppa models. Anyway, your def on a good track, IDK if getting 2 battleforces is really needed... but personally I'm not a fan of some of the units in it. (Why must it come with bikes instead of lootas?!)

Final advice: Buy from Amazon.com. Assuming your ordering online and in the US. Stuff is generally 10-30$ cheaper there, even after shipping. And at least your not directly supporting GW's price gouging.
    I am verbose. Sorry.
